Interesting read. This is why captive breeding, education, scientific studies and ringing of birds of prey in the wild is so important. As with the red kite, white tailed sea eagles with regards to reintroduction programs, the increase of goshawks in recent years and now our smallest falcon the merlin is in the decline.

27 years ago on this day, the Peregrine Falcon was removed from the list of Endangered Species after decades of captive breeding started by a small group of falconers led by this extraordinary man named Tom Cade. Let's take a moment to acknowledge the leading role that falconers play in raptor conservation worldwide.
