More changes to the Deben Fields Development.

In 2022, Deben Fields won a project award at the Housing Design Awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in sustainable and affordable housing. A change in authority and years of what has been described as "weak rubber stamping planning control" sees the original concept changed, and the much needed housing stalled.

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend :

Thanks to everyone who commented, or showed interest (around 18k views) in the Bent Hill conversation.
The general consensus among the comments was that the shared space, whilst continuing to confuse , does raise awareness (as intended) , noting to leave as is.

Answers from Felixstowe residents would be appreciated. . .

An email from a concerned resident, worried that the Hamilton Road Shared Space (specificly on Bent Hill) concept should be reviewed.

Now:
I am NOT in any way, or form , anti-car -
BUT, - I did promise to scope for interest.

So - The Question - is motorised traffic from the seafront up Bent Hill really needed ?
Or:
Would a 10.00 - till 16.00hr pedestrianisation deliver consistency and safety-critical control into the area (if needed) allowing deliveries outside of the controlled times (as along the other regulated part)

Good to see that the long planned Ipswich recycling centre hasn't been subject to the new interim authorities cuts. ..

New Ipswich recycling centre to break ground, which will provide smoother, safer visits

Suffolk County Council is due to begin work on a new recycling centre in Ipswich, just off Hadleigh Road.

The modern, purpose-built facility will be a major upgrade to the existing recycling centre at Portman’s Walk, approximately three times larger and able to accept significantly more bookings.

Suffolk County Council has recently acquired planning permission, an environmental permit and ownership of the land – the former Ipswich Borough Council depot on Whittle Road.

The majority of the existing structures at the site will be demolished, with work scheduled to begin in early summer 2026.
