PARK WOOD UPDATE (wooded area in camp)

After a period of low management, significant works were needed to make safe and create space for new growth at Park Wood. These works were essential to remove diseased Ash trees, approximately 90% of which were infected. Please note that the management will appear heavy handed and uneven due to the distribution of those removed Ash trees, but it will benefit the woodland in the long run, improving the habitat that the woods offer for wildlife. We’ll soon see natural regeneration, and this will be supported with targeted planting next year.

The wood remains closed whilst the works continue and the remedial works are completed to reinstate the woodland path. We expect to reopen mid-June and a further announcement will confirm reopening.

Thank you for your patience whilst these works are completed.

Junior Mini Duathlon (Jog, Bike, Jog) – 19May26

Wattisham Joggers is looking to get Juniors (children) involved in some form of exercise as well as having fun at the same time. Parents will need to be present.

On Tuesday 19May26 at 1800hrs, starting/finishing at the Large Astro Turf there will be an achievable Mini-Duathlon (Jog 1mile, Bike 2miles, Jog 1mile). By all means parents can join them or spectate accordingly for encouragement. The routes will be marked out and marshalled. It’s FREE, purely voluntarily and aimed at having a bit of fun at the same time. Interested? Then please just turn up, you will need to provide your own bike though. If this is a success then Wattisham Joggers will look to do more, similar events in the future.
