About 5.30pm tonight, Ayrshire Road Policing officers attended the A78 near to the Pennyburn roundabout, Kilwinning to assist with a road traffic collision involving four vehicles. Three people were conveyed to Crosshouse Hospital and the road was reopened a short time later.

Whilst awaiting recovery uplifts for the damaged vehicles, officers observed one driver to drive towards them recording the damaged vehicles, he was subsequently stopped by officers and issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice of 6 points and a £200 fine.

Officers would like to remind drivers that it is an offence to use a mobile telephone whilst driving.

We would also kindly ask members of the community not to post photographs or video of any damaged vehicles to social media when an incident is still ongoing as there are times we require to contact family members of the injured and no one would want to see this online before knowing the full circumstances.

Tonight Dreghorn On Call said there final farewell to FF Beaton who’d had to make the hard decision and hand in his pager and say his final goodbyes to his time as a firefighter Dreghorn . Tonight Kilwinning YVS attended Dreghorn where Paramedic Kieran discussed BLS along with a night on the drill yard finishing up with a weekly wash of the fire appliance. Are you interested in becoming a YVS volunteer instructor or even becoming a YVS student then let us know as we need more of both. 🔥
