Tell us a few short sentences about yourself?
Hello! Im jolene, a recent health and social care graduate from bangor university, I’m originally from somerset in england but i have found my forever home here between the sea and mountains in North Wales, where I have begun welsh speaking classes. I have a keen interest in wild swimming and collecting vintage clothing
2,what is the thing you enjoy most about your job?
Seeing in real time the smiles and energy that comes from meaningful interactions with the residents here at springholme, spending time with the elderly generation is a privilege in itself but this particular crowd inspires me and i never tire of hearing stories from younger years and hearing what life has taught everybody. One thing I’ve learned is that curiosity and humour really is multigenerational and is a golden tool we can use to connect with one another. I am committed to growing my confidence and knowledge and becoming an even more skilled activities coordinator for the residents here at springholme
3, What's a fun fact about yourself that most people don't know?
I have a deep love for The Moomins, an old Finnish children's illustration by Tove Joneson and have been collecting memorabilia since I was a child... I even have a tattoo of one!
4, What's your favourite way to spend a day off
Surprise suprise... with monty! Getting out to Newbororough or Rhosneiger beach and making a nice home cooked meal for friends and family, I am a big fan of asian cooking!
5, Tell us about your four-legged friend, Monty – what breed is he and what makes him special?
Monty is just 4 years old, he is a miniature labradoodle who never fails to surprise me with how much excitement he meets each and every day with - he truly is my daily reminder of love and I could pinch myself on the days I get to share his energy with everyone here at springholme, he sleeps very well on the days he returns from visits! All that love and affection from everyone wears him out
6, What's your favourite activity to organise for our residents, and why?
Its hard to choose! But its been so much fun setting up Ten-pin bowling in the dining room, and throwing bean bags into buckets, because it brings out everyones competitive streak. But it never fails to inspire me how simple the joy of sitting in the sunshine, listening to music from past times with cups of tea and biscuits brings the residents here at springholme. Its a reminder that movement and time outside really is a necessity
7, If Monty could talk for one day, what do you think he'd say about you?
I think he might mention that I look happier since ive started my role as activities Coordinator here at springholme, that and he'd ask me for a little brother!
8, Tea or coffee? Matcha! Like most areas in my life I tend to find an alternative to the options available and I hope that comes across in the variation of activities available throughout the weeks schedule.
