Tickets are available for a special hand sewing for beginners workshop next Friday, 23 October! Learn how to repair your clothes with simple hand sewing.

🧵 Following lots of requests, we’re excited to announce a new Hand-Sewing Workshop for Beginners! 🪡

In collaboration with Ivybridge Library and Libraries Unlimited, we’re inviting you to join us for a friendly, practical session where you’ll learn simple hand-sewing techniques to repair, refresh and extend the life of your clothes. 💚

The workshop will be led by Kay Holdaway, an experienced all-round sewer who kindly helped us check all the sewing machines in our Library of Things!

Whether you’d like to learn how to fix a button, mend a seam or tackle a hem, this beginner-friendly workshop is a chance to learn useful skills and keep your favourite clothes in use for longer. 👕🧵

Join us next Tuesday, 20th October, for our cosy Silent Book Group...get comfortable in the library with your book, a hot drink and a snack. Read for an hour and then stay for a chat about what we're all reading if you'd like to. Doors open at 6.45pm and we finish by 8.30pm - see you there! 📖☕

Excited to say there is lots going on at the library in October half term.

We are super lucky to have not one, but two authors coming to share their latest books with us.

On Monday 26 October, at 11am Clare Helen Welsh will be sharing her new book Together Street. This will be a lively, interactive event. Join Ash as he shows new neighbour, Nell, around Together Street.

Through story, games and song, explore what it feels like to be new, what makes a community, and how small acts of kindness matter.

This event is perfect for 3 - 6 year olds

On Tuesday 27 October, at 10:30am, Maureen Boon will be sharing her latest book 'Tobal and the Moving Statues'. Maureen will read extracts and then lead a craft to make a Talisman - a key element of the book.

This event is perfect for children aged 7 - 10.

In the afternoon of Tuesday 27 October, WATER "Wild About The Erme River" will lead an interactive activity with live riverbed creatures sampled from the Erme or a tributary.

These are the creatures that nobody ever sees because they live under stones or in the margins. Their numbers and variety of species are indicators of river health.

There will be magnifying glasses to spot then and pipettes to safely remove them into divided trays where they can be viewed individually and identified from reference sheets.

On Thursday 29 October we will have our usual baby and toddler Bounce and Rhyme sessions followed by a holiday Lego Club

And on Friday 30 October you can join Little Stars in the morning (our preschool group) and make paper pumpkins in the afternoon.

If you have a pristine copy, you’ve finished reading - whether it’s one you bought yourself or received as a gift - you can donate it at any library in Devon or Torbay. We’ll add it to our collection to help reduce the waiting list.

Our Halloween costume rail has a few beauties on it, including a lovely pumpkin outfit! Pop in and see if there is anything suitable for your little one! Or, if you have last year's costume at the back of the wardrobe, please do donate it to our rail, so other another child can wear it this year.
