What a fantastic day at Toner Avenue Primary School in Hebburn for their Careers Day! 🌟

Loved chatting with pupils from all year groups about Adult Social Care and the different roles available. They had brilliant questions and highlighted key skills like resilience, communication, patience and being caring 👏

So inspiring to see young people thinking about their future and what they can achieve 💡

💙 Reminder: Carers Week 2026 – Building Carer Friendly Communities 💙

Carers Week 2026 is taking place this week (Monday 8 June – Sunday 14 June), with a focus on building carer friendly communities.

This important campaign highlights the need for communities to recognise, value and support unpaid carers in everyday life. Carers play a vital role supporting family members, friends and neighbours who are ill, older or living with disabilities.

A carer friendly community includes:
✔️ Supportive workplaces
✔️ Understanding healthcare settings
✔️ Schools that identify young carers
✔️ Accessible local services
✔️ Neighbourhoods that respond to carers’ needs

Here in South Tyneside, the Council and partners are proud to recognise the incredible contribution of around 15,000 unpaid carers 💙

📅 Don’t forget to get involved in Carers Week!

There are still activities and events taking place across South Tyneside.

👉 Complete the survey: https://forms.office.com/e/iafSxDsXBH
📌 The survey is also available via the QR code on promotional posters.

Please continue to share this with your networks and colleagues to help us reach as many carers as possible.

Together, we can ensure carers feel recognised, supported and connected to the help they need 💙

💚 Mental Health Awareness Week 💚

This week is a chance to pause, reflect, and prioritise something that matters to us all — our mental health.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, and it is okay not to be okay. Taking small steps to look after your wellbeing can make a big difference. Whether it is having a chat with someone you trust, getting outside for some fresh air, or simply taking a moment to breathe. Every action counts.

👉 Remember:

- You are not alone
- Your feelings are valid
- Support is always available

Mind reminds us that mental health is just as important as physical health. Let’s use this week to check in on ourselves and each other, offer kindness, and break the stigma surrounding mental health.

If you or someone you know needs support, don’t hesitate to reach out, whether that’s to a friend, colleague, or a trusted organisation like Mind.

💚
