Silsden Fire Station

Today, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service remembers the lives tragically lost on 11th September 2001. As a service, we reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and dedication shown by the emergency responders on that tragic day.

We pay particular tribute to those in our firefighting family who ran towards danger, with some making the ultimate sacrifice in service of others.

We will mark the 25th anniversary privately at our fire stations across West Yorkshire.

Our thoughts remain with all those affected. 🤍

Whilst we don't have James May to show off our impressive fire appliances, we'd argue ours might be even more impressive than both James and the appliances of our friends at Dorset & Wiltshire! 😉

One thing we do have in common is the need for on-call firefighters.

Could you answer the call at Silsden Fire Station? 🔥

If you live or work within five minutes of the station and think you've got what it takes, find out more using the link below and get in touch.

Today, we honour the memory of West Yorkshire firefighter Jeff Naylor, who made the ultimate sacrifice 43 years ago after heroically rescuing children trapped in a burning building with his firefighting partner Steve Harrison.

Jeff fought bravely for his life for more than 10 weeks in the burns unit at Pinderfields Hospital, surrounded by hundreds of cards and gifts from a community deeply moved by his courage. Tragically, he died on 10th July from the injuries he sustained.

His bravery, selflessness, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. We remember Jeff today and always 🤍
