The Silsden moor fire is still ongoing with 7 pumps still in attendance. Please stay away from the area and remember

Yesterday we attended the moor fire above Silsden and due to the size of the fire front the incident was made up to 12 pumps attending. The moor fire is still ongoing and crews will be in attendance throughout the day so please avoid the area.

🚒 We're conducting a training exercise on Elliot Street (BD20) so you will see an increased fire service presence.

Today, we honour the memory of West Yorkshire firefighter Jeff Naylor, who made the ultimate sacrifice 43 years ago after heroically rescuing children trapped in a burning building with his firefighting partner Steve Harrison.

Jeff fought bravely for his life for more than 10 weeks in the burns unit at Pinderfields Hospital, surrounded by hundreds of cards and gifts from a community deeply moved by his courage. Tragically, he died on 10th July from the injuries he sustained.

His bravery, selflessness, and dedication to protecting others will never be forgotten. We remember Jeff today and always 🤍
