£150 COUNCIL TAX ENERGY BILLS REBATE
Council Tax bills have been sent out for the coming year and you may have been expecting to see a reduction in your bill after the Chancellor's announcement that householders in bands A to D will receive a one-off payment of £150 to support them with rising energy bills.
The energy rebate is a one-off fixed payment of £150 which South Lakeland District Council will pay to you on behalf of the Government and is not a credit against your Council Tax account so is not shown on your bill.
Here's what you need to know:
- If you are eligible and pay your Council Tax by direct debit you will receive your payment directly into your bank account. We aim to start making these payments in May.
- We will write to qualifying customers who do not pay their Council Tax by direct debit letting you know how to apply for the £150 payment. PLEASE NOTE: we are not calling people asking for bank details.
- SLDC is also working on a scheme for using discretionary funding from the Government to provide further assistance to those who most need it. Details about this will be available soon - keep an eye on our social media accounts and website.

As fuel prices increase it's worth bearing in mind that dropping your speed in an urban environment to 20mph can reduce your fuel consumption by up to 25%.

In addition, driving at 20mph reduces emissions by up to 28% compared with driving at 30mph.

Cleaner, safer, friendlier (more cost effective)
