🎨🎵 Science, music, and computing all in one lesson!

At Temple Sowerby C of E Primary School, our KS1 pupils joined Miss Yui for a hands-on STEAM adventure, exploring how technology can turn simple drawings into musical instruments.

Using graphite, pupils created their own instruments. Learning how to use their bodies to keep their favourite colours and notes on screen.

A huge thank you to Cumbria Music Hub for making this fun learning experience possible.

Special shoutout to Playtronica for creating technology that inspires children to explore sound in new and exciting ways!

🚨 Funding opportunity for music education in Cumbria - 2026/27
Cumbria Music Hub's purpose is to facilitate children & young people's access to music opportunities. We are inviting Expressions of Interest from organisations and community partners to help shape next year’s programme.

We’re offering grant funding (not a tender process) to support projects that:
✅ Increase children & young peoples' access to music
✅ Support schools and teachers
✅ Develop ensembles and progression for young people
✅ Champion inclusion and SEND
✅ Provide high-quality musical experiences across Cumbria for our young residents

We’re especially keen to hear from projects reaching underserved communities or offering regular, sustained activity.
