It was a pleasure to chair a Q&A event with Calum Miller MP, Liberal Democrat spokesman for Foreign Affairs.

The topic is so relevant when our everyday spends are directly affected by the decisions of global leaders, and people’s views on events at home are easily coloured by events abroad!

I’m proud to be in a party that tries to deal with issues head on, in a pragmatic but compassionate way.

Celebrating both our environment and our culture in one project:
The Greenway Project - Have your say! The Greenway Project is a new public art initiative linking Kenilworth, Burton Green, Berkswell and Balsall Common.
The project would love to hear from people who use the Greenway* in any way, whether for walking, commuting, nature, or socialising. The survey gathers local experiences, stories, and ideas to help shape the project.
The project would also be grateful for your support by completing the survey and circulating this through any relevant groups, newsletters, or communications that you are linked with.
It takes 5–15 minutes to complete, and all responses are anonymous. You can take part here:
Link to survey here: https://lnkd.in/e2vxZ4Gt
The survey is open to anyone aged 16+, or under 16's with permission of a parent or guardian, and closes on Thursday 2nd July 2026.

VASA is one of the community groups to which Kenilworth Town Council gave a grant last year to support their vital work

Numbers tell a story. Here is VASA's story from 2025/26

πŸ“Œ 15,955 journeys completed
πŸ“Œ 19,636 passengers transported
πŸ“Œ 4 districts: Stratford-on-Avon, Warwick, Rugby, and Solihull
πŸ“Œ 180 volunteers giving their time

These figures represent something that cannot easily be measured: the difference between someone reaching their cancer treatment and not, between attending a wellbeing activity and staying home alone, between feeling connected and feeling forgotten.

Community transport is health infrastructure. It is social infrastructure. And in our area, it is built almost entirely by volunteers.

As we mark Volunteer Appreciation Week, I hope these numbers convey what words sometimes cannot. Our volunteers are remarkable. The impact they create is real.

Sometimes the prospect of a breakfast meeting after a whole week of daytime and evening Council meetings - several quite long - is something it might be tempted to skip.

But thanks so much to Kenilworth Chamber of Trade for organising a great event today at Holiday Inn Kenilworth - Warwick. Great food and a great speaker in Darren Ward from The Orange Partnership discussing what makes for business success, and for business failure. Great to hear from other local businesses too. Some things to help improve our community may be very small and not very expensive. That doesn't mean they can be done immediately. Rightly, there's always a process to getting things done.

And whatever gets done might not make a huge difference. But, hopefully, it's better than doing nothing.

So, several months after raising with the Highways Team at Warwickshire County Council Public Health the question of road safety on the exit from Kenilworth's Square West carpark which is operated by Warwick District Council, thanks are due to the WCC Highways Team for the painting of a 'SLOW' roadmarking on the carpark's exit towards Barrowfield Lane. Hopefully this will encourage roadusers to be careful at the junction onto the Lane.

Now on to the long list of other items of local roadsafety that need attention....

It's good to see some of the dead branches have been removed from trees at Castle Farm Leisure Centre.

These trees and branches on Barrowfield Lane and Barrow Road have also been reported by Richard Dickson - LibDems in Kenilworth to the Forestry Team at Warwickshire County Council. Two of the trees are dead and the low overhanging branch is dangerous.
