✨ May at Focus Foster Care ✨

The children in our fostering community have achieved lots of amazing things throughout May.

3 of our children complete their SATS and can now enjoy the school summer term celebrations. The children have taken every opportunity to get the best scores possible, even attending early morning maths boosters, with some breakfast treats.

P achieved a school values award for her all-round efforts.

S attended a school residential trip, which included canoeing and rock climbing.

L attended a Brownie camp, she loved being with all her Brownie friends. They completed an assault course and made their own pizzas for dinner.

L and P have been at swimming lessons every morning during the half term, working incredible hard and mastering those swimming skills.

K is enjoying her first holiday at the seaside with her foster family and we can't wait to hear all about it.

🎉We're so proud of every child in our fostering community. Well done for all of your achievements this month kids! 🎉

✨ This is fostering from an adult child's perspective ...✨

“Being part of a fostering family has been one of the most meaningful and eye-opening experiences of my life. It has allowed me to see, first hand the difference that love, stability and care can make to a child.

Being part of a family who foster has changed my view on family, kindness and what it truly means to support someone.

From the moment the girls arrived, it was clear how important it was to create a safe and welcoming environment for them. My mum and her partner have done this so naturally.

They are both incredibly patient, understanding and nurturing, always putting the girls' emotional needs first.

Watching them has taught me that it not just about providing a home - it's about building trust, offering reassurance and showing consistent love

What stands out most to me is how deeply the girls are cared for. They are not just looked after; they are truly valued and celebrated. Mum and her partner go above and beyond to ensure that the girls experience the best parts of childhood. Whether it be helping with homework, encouraging their hobbies, or simply spending quality time together, everything is done with genuine care and intention.

It's clear that the girls feel safe and supported, and seeing their confidence grow over time has been incredibly rewarding.

The two girls have had an enormous impact on my own family. My two children adore the girls and they have formed a close bond. Their relationships are somewhat similar to cousins. My own children are always asking to see the girls and want to be in their company. The noise of laughing children in the garden has been magical.

The girls have flourished in their care and I believe this is because of the life experiences the girls have gained such as going on a family holiday, day trips and new hobbies such as brownies/rainbows or roller skating. The girls have been able to explore what they genuinely like and creating new hopes and dreams for their future”.

✨ This is fostering ...✨

Being the birth child of a foster carer isn't always easy. After all, sharing your home, toys and parents can be challenging!

Some days can be harder than others, but birth children and foster children often build close bonds and create happy memories together.

✨ Foster carers help children reach their full potential ✨

With the help of a supportive foster carer, children can achieve amazing things and make incredible progress in all areas of their lives.

💜

“The progress since being with these foster carers is remarkable. It is clear there is a focus on routines, care and enriching experiences and language. The relationship with school has been supportive and communication is excellent.

I would like to share my appreciation and thanks on behalf of Nursery to the foster carers for not only the secure and safe environment they are providing but also the experiences, especially with regards to language they are giving” - Nursery head teacher.

✨Small action. BIG impact✨

Often it's the small things that can make a child smile the most.

A trip to the park.
Watching a film.
Playing games.
A fun day out.

At Focus, our ethos is *embracing childhoods" and that's exactly what our foster carers do.

Whether it's playing on the swings or encouraging time spent with friends, foster carers work hard to give children the happy childhood every child deserves.

✨This is fostering ... ✨

Many people ask us if it's possible to foster if you're a parent.

Our answer - of course you can!

Is it always easy? Of course not!

But caring for multiple children is often challenging, whether you're looking after your birth children or children in foster care.

Siblings argue. Children have disagreements. One minute the kids are mortal enemies and the next they're best friends.

We understand that sharing your home and parents with another child can be difficult, and that is why we run regular social events for the children of our foster carers.

During these social days, children can enjoy time outside of the family home, build friendships, and provide each other with peer support.

One of our young people shared that she enjoys being a part of a family that fosters, and she sees the children as siblings - even though it can be hard at times.
