Have your say about Keswick! Please share and come along ☺️

The next Keswick Community Partnership open meeting is on Monday 7th September at 5.30pm at Keswick Rugby Club. https://keswickcommunitypartnership.org.uk/

It’s a chance for local residents and community groups to come along, hear what’s happening locally and share your views.

We’ll be talking about:

** The recent Keswick Town Council survey on nuisance holiday lets
** The work of the Police and Crime Commissioner
** Our new community web directory
** Ideas for future projects and priorities
** And, of course, a chance to meet and chat with other people involved in our community.

There’ll be refreshments and time to catch up with everyone from around 6.30–7pm.

Before the meeting, there’s also a drop-in surgery from 4pm–5.20pm , where you can speak one-to-one with Cumberland Councillor Sally Lansbury and Police and Crime Commissioner David Allan.

🚨 Important update from Cumbria Police – e-scooters and illegal e-bikes 🚨

Following concerns raised by residents about young people riding e-scooters and illegal e-bikes in the area – including reports of riders travelling the wrong way along one-way streets and without appropriate safety equipment – Keswick Town Council has spoken directly with PC Chris Moss.

Police are aware of the issues and have increased patrols at times highlighted by residents. Where riders are identified, officers will aim to gather evidence to help identify them and, where appropriate, take action including seizing illegal e-vehicles, or where riders are not legally entitled to use them.

Police will be sharing further information on this through their social media channels.

📞 Reporting non-emergency incidents

We understand that some residents have experienced delays when calling 101, particularly during busy periods. Cumbria Police have asked people to stay on the line if they do call 101, as calls that are abandoned may still require a call back, taking up additional control room time.

For non-emergency matters, residents can also report incidents online:

These reports are reviewed and handled by the police, who can assess and grade the report and make contact where necessary.

🚨 Always call 999 in an emergency or where there is an immediate risk to life or safety.

David Allen, Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, is holding a public surgery at Keswick Rugby Club on Monday 7 September, from 4pm to 5.20pm.

If you have any concerns, questions or views about policing or fire and rescue services in our area, this is a great opportunity to speak directly with the Commissioner.

FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY – KESWICK

Do you love Keswick and want to help make a real difference to our community?

Keswick Town Council is looking for an enthusiastic, self-starting Fundraiser to help us build a fantastic new children’s play area in Keswick. 🛝🌿

* 12-month fixed-term contract
* £22 per hour
* 1–2 days per week (days to be discussed at interview)
* Keswick
* Self-employed position

We’re looking for someone with experience in fundraising and a proven track record of delivery, who is passionate about Keswick and the wellbeing of our community. Most importantly, you’ll be able to communicate the exciting possibilities of the new play area to potential donors and help turn this vision into reality.

Members of the public are warmly invited to attend our next Town Council meeting, which will be held on Thursday 20 August at 7.00pm in the Council Chamber.
The meeting will include discussion of:
• The quarterly budgets
• Council ideas for Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) in Keswick
• Planning applications
• Public correspondence regarding the state of the town centre
• The co-option of a new Councillor

We encourage members of the public to come along and take an interest in the issues affecting our town. We look forward to welcoming you.

Keswick Town Council is working closely with The Keswick Binfluencers to provide feedback on Cumberland Council's online reporting system for fly camping and anti-social behaviour. We'd love to hear your feedback if you have used the portal or equally let us know if you were unaware of its existence. Please comment below and your feedback will be collated by Cllr Claire Peat and shared with the Keswick Binfluencers for a meeting they have planned with Cumberland Council.

The reporting portal is "real time", when you report something, it's automatically flagged (Red / Amber / Green) and allocated. Whether there is resource available to respond is a separate issue.

If you have not used the system, click the link below and start to report an issue so you know what's involved / missing; nothing goes to Cumberland Council until you press submit - so when you have had a look, you can simply abandon it.

This questionnaire is from Keswick Town Council (KTC) and the Keswick Community Partnership. We are gathering feedback on residents’ experiences of resolving nuisance behaviour from holiday lets.

We would like to know what the residents of our community have experienced when they have tried to resolve issues related to holiday lets near them. Your response will be anonymous.

We will add this to the evidence base we use to lobby the authorities (such as the National Park Authority, the Government, Cumberland Council and the Police) for action and policy changes.

The traders at Cumberland Markets have been unbelievably generous in helping us set up our tombola, raising funds for the Fitz Park Play area. Join us at the market celebration of 750 years of Keswick Markets. The Mayor and new Town Crier will be there at noon, helping to reenact the handing over of the charter.
