It's been a while since we've done a post about progress on our New Museum Building.
So what's been going on? Well...
Field View Electrical Ltd have completed the first fix and are well on the way with the second fix. The proposed storage space has got lights so we can see what we’re going to store!
The team from William King Construction have been kept busy with outside with the drainage and inside with the stud wall and plastering work. The joinery team have arrived which means the stairs are going in.
In the plumbing department, Roland Hill Ltd have completed the first fix of pipework and fitted the nonslip flooring in the toilets. The next stage will be to fit the sanitary ware, sinks etc.
To make sure we don’t have a sudden moment of ‘oh, we need to paint it all’ some of our volunteers have been kept busy painting ceilings in order to stay one step ahead!
A seperate group of non-painting volunteers have been working on how the new displays might look. We had a constructive meeting with the Cumbrian Railways Association on how to incorporate some of the railways into the mining and quarrying story.
In the office, our tame fundraiser (who is writing this between driving trains and drinking tea) is busy filling in grant applications to help fund the display / interpretation stage of the project.
