This is an important opportunity for young people with disabilities and their parents/carers to share their experiences of the PIP system. Your feedback about the process can help shape the future of Personal Independence Payments.

⏰ Reminder: the deadline to submit evidence to the Government’s independent review of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is 11.59pm on 28 May 2026, tomorrow night! ⏰

If you are the parent carer of a disabled young person, this is an important opportunity to share your experiences of the PIP system, including assessments, decision-making, communication, accessibility, and the impact on your family.

Contact has submitted evidence to the review, highlighting the distress many families experience during the PIP process and calling for a fairer, more person-centred system.

We’re encouraging families to respond too and make sure parent carers’ voices are heard.

Did you know that if your child is unable to attend school due to illness, exclusion, anxiety, or other reasons, the local authority has a legal duty under Section 19 of the Education Act 1996 to arrange suitable education.

The Disability Access Fund (DAF) helps children with disabilities or Special Educational Needs (SEN) access early education and childcare.

🧩🧩 You could receive a one-off payment of £975 through the Disability Access Fund (DAF) to help make adjustments that support children in your care.

✅ To claim, providers need to upload evidence of the child’s Disability Living Allowance (DLA) through their usual provider portal/system.

The Steering Group will play a key role in making sure the information and support we share is clear, accessible and reflects what families really need. By joining the group, you can help to:

🔹Share feedback about lived experience from parents, carers and young people (this will help inform services so that they can improve their support)
🔹Support co‑production of the SEND Local Offer website
