Severn Area Rescue Association - Wyre Forest Station

A huge thanks to Worcestershire County Council for their support, grants like this are vital to keeping us operational and supporting our community!

This summer, Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) volunteers have been supporting emergency services across Worcestershire, from helping during periods of extreme heat to assisting with fires.

They've also been out on the River Severn, helping people stay safe around open water during the hot weather.

To help them continue this vital work, SARA has expanded its volunteer team, increased training opportunities and upgraded its medical equipment.

These improvements have been made possible with support from our Public Health Community Grant programme, helping ensure volunteers have the skills and equipment they need to keep supporting our communities when they're needed most.

A huge thank you to all the dedicated SARA volunteers for the incredible work they do across Worcestershire. 👏

📟 CALL-OUT 13/8/26 1752hrs

Yesterday evening the team were deployed to support West Midlands Fire Service,Officialwmas and West Midlands Police in their response to the major fire in Stourbridge.

The crew assisted in evacuating a care home and provided logistical support to the fire service.

Our thoughts go out to the community that have been affected by this tragic incident.

Please continue to follow all safety advice provided by West Midlands Fire Service to help them bring the incident to a safe conclusion.

14 crew were involved for 5.5 hours.

📟 CALL-OUT 25/7/26 1255hrs

Land crew were deployed by West Mercia Police to search for a missing person in the Malvern area alongside Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, Severn Area Rescue Association - Tewkesbury and West Mercia Search & Rescue

8 crew were involved for 11 hours.

Last week crew from Wyre Forest and Severn Area Rescue Association - Upton were out on SARA 8 with the westmerciapolice dog unit supporting with their Drowning Victim Detection Dog training.

Huge thanks to Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales at Stourport & Upton as well as Droitwich Spa Marina for allowing us to use their facilities.

Thursday Night Training ⛑️

Bit of a catch up on what we have been up to over the last few weeks.

Crew were out again SARA 8 running through boat handling and throwline skills. Huge thanks as always to Tingdene Marinas & Boat Sales at Stourport for allowing us to launch.

Last week we were out in Bewdley undertaking a search exercise to locate a missing swimmer. A SRT crew were deployed in the water along with a bank crew. The missing person was successfully located by the SRT team and was extracted from the water.

📟 CALL-OUT 7/7/26 0722hrs

Land crew were tasked by Gloucestershire Constabulary to search for a missing person in the Gloucester area alongside our other Severn Area Rescue Association land stations.

Crew were stood down with nothing found in the search area.

The missing person was subsequently found safe and well the following morning.

4 crew were involved for 13 hours.

Message for anyone who has put any cash in one of our collection boxes anywhere, at anytime.

We hope it goes without saying that at SARA Wyre Forest we try to thank all those people, companies or other organisations who support us with donations for specific equipment or help with things like servicing our vehicles. We could not continue to do what we do without them.

However, as far as we are aware, we have not (recently at least) thanked all those who have put money in one of the 60+ collection boxes that we have in pubs, shops, food outlets etc around the area.

So if this is you, please accept our sincere thanks. Every penny goes to keeping the organisation ticking over, cover establishment costs, fuel and other consumables and is gratefully received.
