The taxi rank underneath the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in the bus station will be CLOSED today (Monday 20 July), for essential repairs.

Thanks for your patience - it's to improve drains there to reduce the risk of flooding, so drivers can better help you get from A to B in the future.

The other ranks are open as normal:

On Saturday, staff attended the Garden of Alchemy engagement hosted by Bromsgrove District Council in Sanders Park.

It was a great opportunity to engage with the community about the air quality work that we do across the county and the simple changes residents can make to spark real change and reduce air pollution.

Grown ups were welcomed to complete our survey, which is still open until 31 July, and young people had to opportunity to colour in our sustainable travel posters.

Due to the extended heatwave, WRS has decided to cancel the free microchipping event that was supposed to be happening at Diglis Playing Fields on Wednesday 15 July (11:30AM - 01:30 PM).

Protecting the welfare of dogs is important to us, and we want to ensure you bring your four-legged friends along to get microchipped in safe conditions.

The event will be rescheduled and updates will follow soon.

Drop by and bring your four-legged friend along to get microchipped free of charge. By doing so, you will provide us with the best chance of reuniting your dog to your home quickly and safely if it's seized in a public space.

No need to apply for extra hours for Sunday's England v Mexico match.

Pubs and bars across England and Wales can serve alcohol until 5am on Monday morning, covering the full match without individual premises needing a Temporary Event Notice.

The government has used its power under the Licensing Act 2003 to extend hours nationally, following earlier extensions for England's knockout games and a high volume of TEN approvals from councils throughout the tournament.

CANCELLED DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES DUE!☀️

Unfortunately our free microchipping event on Thursday 02 July at Perdiswell Park, Worcester (11:30AM - 01:30PM) has to be cancelled.

Dog welfare is our top priority and we want to ensure owners only bring their dogs outside in cooler temperatures.

We are looking to reschedule and will keep everyone posted, so watch this space!!

Following Clean Air Day, WRS staff attended the Greenshoots event organised by SusFest Wyre Forest as part of their month long sustainability events.

The day brought together eco-stalls, artists and likeminded individuals to show residents how to live greener, happier & healthier lives.

We enjoyed engaging with young people and discussing the health risks attached to bad air quality and the changes we can all make to reduce air pollution where we live.

Keeping dogs safe in hot weather 🔅

During this heatwave, WRS are reminding residents that dogs can quickly become seriously unwell in high heat. 🐶

Please take extra care.

Here are simple steps that can help keep dogs safe:
• Walk them in the early morning or late evening, when it’s cooler
• Make sure they always have access to fresh water and shade
• Avoid hot surfaces like pavements, which can burn paws
• Never leave a dog in a parked car, even for a short time
• Use cooling aids such as cool mats, paddling pools, or by freezing treats to regulate their body temperature.

Puppies, older dogs, and certain breeds (like flat-faced dogs or ones with thicker coats) are more vulnerable in these conditions.
