Scammers are cold calling and saying they work for an energy company. They say you may be eligible to receive a government-backed grant for new windows or doors, then ask you to provide your details and pay a deposit

Don’t provide details/payments to a cold caller on the spot - take their details and do some research before making a decision

There’s been a rise in scammers who say they are carrying out electrical safety checks on behalf of the government, the local council or the electricity network.

If you receive an unexpected call offering a ‘free’ electrical survey or voltage check, don’t agree to make an appointment for a salesperson to visit your property

If you’re concerned about voltage levels in your property, find a registered electrician in Scotland at www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/find-anelectrician/scotland
