We have been listening to ongoing concerns from local residents about the illegal and anti-social use of off-road e-bikes and e-scooters in our communities. In response, officers from Kilmarnock Locality Policing team have implemented a Directed Action Plan during July focused on targeted patrols, enforcement, intelligence gathering and partnership working. We can now provide an update on the work carried out so far:

4 off-road e-bikes/e-scooters/ cars seized
3 people charged with traffic offences
Increased targeted patrols and enforcement activity in areas identified through community concerns and intelligence.
Continued work with internal and external partners to identify longer-term solutions and address the wider issues surrounding the use of these vehicles.

Sgt Woodley, Kilmarnock Locality Policing team stated ‘I would like to thank everyone who has raised concerns and provided information so far. We will continue to use information provided by local residents to direct our resources and target those responsible for dangerous, unlawful or anti-social behaviour, this activity is ongoing.
We understand the impact this type of activity can have on communities, particularly where residents feel intimidated or where vehicles are being ridden dangerously on roads, footpaths and other public areas. We continue to need your help. If you have information about individuals, vehicles, locations or times associated with this type of behaviour, please report it through Police Scotland’s 101/999 or ‘Contact us’ function, through contacting either your local Councillor or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. We will continue to listen, respond and take action to keep our communities safe.’

Our Community Waste Officers (CWOs) recently teamed up with Atrium Homes for a fantastic Community Clean Up Event.

Thanks to an incredible collaborative effort, we have made a huge, positive impact on the streets of Shortlees! Here is a look at what went down during this mega community effort:
Local Skips: Placed across the neighbourhood to help residents safely clear out excess household waste.
Kerbside Bulky Lifts: Atrium residents with large items got a helping hand with direct collections right from their front doors.
Prize Draw: Everyone who pitched in was entered into an exciting prize draw to celebrate their hard work!

A massive thank you to everyone who hosted information stalls and chatted with residents on the day, including: East Ayrshire Environmental Health Community Waste Officers (CWOs) Atrium Homes

The streets are looking brighter than ever thanks to a brilliant joint litter pick!

Incredible young volunteers from the Police Scotland Volunteers worked side-by-side with our CWOs. They were joined by a fantastic turnout of local residents and children who took pride in cleaning up their community.

Thank you to every single person who came along, filled a bag, or cleared some waste. Together, we are keeping our neighbourhoods clean, safe, and vibrant!

Our Dog Warden has picked up a male lurcher that was found in Crookedholm, now at our kennels.
Do you recognise him?

Please contact us if you are the owner so we can reunite you with your dog - proof of ownership will be required
You can only make this representation directly to us - 01563 576790 (Option 1).

Advisory: It is the local authorities legal duty to pick up strays and keep them for 7 days so that owners can come forward to claim them (less than 7 only if claimed by owner)
Stray dogs are only those found in public spaces not in control of their keeper

After 7 days our preferred option is to pass dogs to our partner rehoming charity so that they can be rehomed safely - as this is the best option for dog and new owner - considering animal health, welfare and safety

Please do not make enquiries with us to rehome - our only aim in posting is to reunite with owner

We do not monitor comments on posts.
