Kimberley Town Council

Kimberley Town Council Kimberley is a former brewing town in Nottinghamshire. Kimberley Town Council is the initial contact. Please contact the Clerk for further information.

The first meeting of the then Parish Council was held in 1896 and its status was changed to a Town Council in the 1980’s

Kimberley Town council has 15 councillors and elections for these positions take place every four years, the next election being in 2023 The councillors are all volunteers and are not paid but have a passionate desire to do their best for the Kimberley community. In addition t

o the councillors we employ a Clerk, Responsible Finance Officer, and a Caretaker & Maintenance person, all of whom receive a salary. The Parish Hall is available for hire for private functions. We hold meetings on a regular basis at the Parish Hall on Newdigate Street, the main ones being Full Council and Estates & Environment committees. The public are welcome to attend these meetings and each agenda has provision for public question time where matters of concern can be brought to the council’s attention. The old record books for the council are deposited at the Nottingham Archives and are available for public inspection. The Town Council is involved in many community events and initiatives including provision of activities for young people, management of two allotment sites and two recreation areas at the Stag and Knowle Park, providing Christmas festive lights, flowers and hanging baskets during the summer season, and supporting local organisations with annual grant awards. We are also responsible for the Cemetery Chapel & the War Memorial, two of the iconic buildings in Kimberley.

As we go into National Volunteers Week, we'd like to give a huge shout out of thanks and appreciation to the amazing volunteers involved with us at Kimberley Town Council.

To Eric and Margaret who volunteer with us tending the towns garden areas and keep them looking lovely and cared for.
To Barry, Graham and Marie who volunteer with us as part of the Events Committee, and assist in helping out with events alongside our Councillors.
To Clare and Gaynor who also volunteer at our events to assist on the day.
To Mike and everyone else who has joined us over the last 2 and half years on community litter picks.

All of us here at Kimberley Town Council say
Thank you! We are truly grateful to have an amazing team of community minded, selfless people on board!

We'd also like to thank all of the amazing volunteers in the community who aren't directly involved with us at the Council, but in whatever capacity they volunteer in and around Kimberley, you are all amazing people, well done and thank you!

We're sharing a quick message from our local Police team about reporting crimes:

In an emergency or if someone is in danger PLEASE dial 999.

To report all other types of crimes please dial 101. This allows the local police to team to log details, build a case and provides information useful to investigating the crimes reported.
This includes but is not limited to issues of speeding, anti-social behaviour(where there isn't a threat to persons) and vandalism.

Reporting to your local Councillors might seem the right thing to do, but they have to report the issue via 101 just like members of the public, so you are always better off doing it yourself so you can ensure all the details are logged correctly. Local Councillors don't have a direct line to the police or the authority to order them to respond to a report of a crime.

By reporting through the 101 process this maintains the correct procedures that allows our local police team to carry out their duties.
If in doubt, call 101.

On behalf of the Local Police Team-Thank You.

Big thanks to the team this morning!

Cllr Boneham (Chair of our Estates and Environment Committee), Cllr Kitchener (Vice-Chair of the E&E Committee), Cllr Doherty, Cllr Rood and wife Marie were joined by our 2 volunteer gardeners Eric and Margaret alongside our Grounds & Maintenance Officer Neil and mini helper George to give our gardens and planters a spruce up with new plants and shrubs, as well as some weeding and general tidying.

The areas are now looking much better, and luckily they managed to dodge most of the rain! More planting and tidying is planned for the next few weeks in other areas of the town.

We'd also like to pass on a massive continuing thanks to Eric and Margaret who selflessly and regularly give up a few hours a week to potter round the town keeping the weeds at bay and the garden areas looking nice.
