Thank you to everyone who came to our charity car wash today. Despite two shouts, we still cleaned a lot of cars and are really pleased to announce we raised £267.82 for The Firefighters Charity.

It was great to see so many of you turn out to support us and the charity, ask questions, look round the fire engine and have your cars cleaned.

THANK YOU AGAIN! 🚗 🧼 Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue Service

Improvised Dam Building…

Tonight at drills we constructed a dam using ladders and a salvage sheet and used the LPP to get the water curtain to work. Each crew member took a turn to be pump operator and get a prime.

Drills ended with a shout to standby at Huntingdon 🚒🚒

Please be our eyes and ears. Two of our stations have been broken into this week, so we're asking you, our local residents, to help us look out for any suspicious activity around our station.

Chatteris and Gamlingay fire stations were broken into in the early hours of Monday morning and Tuesday evening respectively. At Chatteris, life-saving cutting equipment used at road traffic collisions and other rescues was stolen.

Chief Fire Officer Matthew Warren said: “Break-ins to fire stations are happening across the country and this week we have been victims twice. We are asking for local residents to please help be our eyes and ears, to report any suspicious activity and make a note if possible of any vehicle details including registration number, as well as descriptions of any individuals involved.

"Please also save any CCTV or Ring doorbell footage if it has captured any suspicious activity. The incidents have happened when it’s dark, in the evening and early morning. Entry has been forced, so if you hear a noise coming from one of our stations, please do just look and check to see if it is our firefighters, don’t assume it is. This support by our local communities would be greatly appreciated.”

Anyone with information is asked to visit the Cambridgeshire Constabulary website or call 101 and quote the reference 35/21532/26.

Nine new wholetime firefighters have successfully completed their initial training and are now ready to respond to emergencies across Cambridgeshire.

The new recruits’ families were invited to join them at the Service’s state of the art Training Centre in Huntingdon to witness their passing-out ceremony where they demonstrated the skills they had learned and developed during their ten-week course.

The new recruits will now join their stations and start responding to emergencies.
