This year we are celebrating Green Libraries Week!

From 21-28 October the annual celebration of the role libraries can play in supporting climate action, sustainability and greener communities.

We have a whole host of exciting activities, talks and interactives happening across Fife for all ages with a focus on the climate and sustainability.

Bayeux Tapestry this, Bayeux Tapestry that. The famous French tapestry may have travelled to London, but did you know we have our very own local patchwork quilt of West Fife history - right on your doorstep?

Hanging in our adult library, the Millenium Quilt (created by the superb Dunfermline Quilters) showcases St Margaret, Robert the Bruce and Andrew Carnegie, alongside local landmarks like Dunfermline Abbey, Inchcolm and the Forth Bridge. And, of course, it would not be complete without a peacock 🦚

Come and see it for yourself anytime during our opening hours - no photo ban, no queues, no entrance fee.

Our newest art exhibition, 'Living Colour', opens this Saturday 3 October.

Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Royal Scottish Academy, the exhibition explores Scottish art from the 19th to the 21st century, bringing together works by artists with various connections to Scotland - including many who were born in Fife or have strong and lasting links to our local area.

Among the artists featured are Elizabeth Blackadder RSA, John Houston and Peter Graham HRSA. Pictured above is Graham’s 1906 painting Morning, which may have been inspired by the rugged beauty of the St Andrews coastline.

Come along and join us, no booking required. Kids are welcome too.
