Today we celebrated 40 years of Careline Community Service with friends old and new, colleagues, partner organisations, equipment suppliers, customers, the Mayor of King's Lynn and many more. There was laughter, an occasional tear, and yes there was cake!

Everyone on the team is proud to be "the face behind the button", helping residents in Norfolk, and beyond, to live safely and independently in their own homes, providing peace of mind to loved ones.

More than 75% of our customers have now swapped to a digital care alarm, replacing one that plugged into their phone line. Why?

Landlines are moving to digital. Once your line is switched, your BT wall sockets won't work and you'll need to plug your old alarm into your router (if you have one) instead. This will work, most of the time, but increasingly will fail to connect as more and more of the network becomes digital. It also won't work if your router has a power cut.

Digital alarms don't need a phone line, internet or WiFi, so are a safer option for you and your loved ones. Stay safe. If you receive a letter from your phone company saying your landline is about to be switched, don't ignore it - book an engineer visit with them and call us to get a new digital alarm.

If you have a care alarm, you are entitled to a visit from an engineer when your line is about to be switched, but you DO need to book them when they write to you. Look out for their letter, and don't put it off!

There is a small increase in our charges this year, just enough to cover the increase in our operating costs, but if you're tempted to shop around please bear in mind the following.

We offer personal installation of all our alarms - an opportunity for us to explain clearly and patiently how it works, but also to see if there is anything else we can help you with. Home adaptations, benefit checks, your health and wellbeing etc. Most companies will only send you an alarm.

As part of a borough council, we don't engage in any dodgy sales tactics. You're not locked in to a 12 month contract, so can cancel at any time. We won't give you a cheap deal to tempt you, then massively increase it at renewal. And we don't employ any salesman to "upsell" you things you don't need. We're here for YOU!
