Hope Cove Lifeboat

Hope Cove Lifeboat is an independent charity, run by volunteers and funded solely through fundraising We provide our service 24/7, 365 days a year.

In January 2011 Hope Cove Lifeboat was granted registered charity status and by May 2011 the boat became fully operational as a Designated Facility to deliver Search and Rescue services to Bigbury Bay and the surrounding area.

Time for a big thank you.

Our newest (and youngest?) recruits to the Hope Cove Life Boat crew have been hard at work. The entrepreneurial youngsters set up stall on Wednesday evening last week and raised £155 to help keep the life boat afloat. Well done team, and thanks for your support.

If you’d like to support us then we’ll be training this evening from 7. Our friends at a and will be there too with pizzas and cocktails. We’ll see you there.

What are you doing on Tuesday evening?

We'll be training but before we hit the water we're delighted that South Hams Singers are coming to see us to present a cheque in support of the lifeboat.

And whilst we're on the water they'll be performing for you on the slip at Inner Hope. and will also be there with their fabulous selection of drinks and pizzas too.

So what are you waiting for? We'll see you tomorrow for a song, a slice and a spritzer just after 7pm.

We've an extra treat for you this week.

Yes we know it's Thursday not Tuesday but there will still be pizzas and cocktails in Inner Hope this evening. and will be in their usual spots from 5.30 to 8.30 this evening, keeping you fed and watered, and helping raise funds to keep us afloat .

Lifeboat shout

Our crew have just launched to a yacht with engine failure in the bay. Meanwhile our shore are enjoying the view.

It's quiet on the slipway this evening but but we're hoping to see lots of you here tomorrow evening for cocktails, pizzas and Tuesday Training. We'll do the training, you can enjoy the food, drink and the sunset.

RNLI Lifeguards South Devon joined us on Tuesday for our regular training session. We practiced transfering casulaties between the shore and our boat. Then with training done we retired to Hope Cove for a debrief over pizza and cocktails.

It’s Tuesday and that means, Cocktail, Pizzas and Life Boat training in Hope Cove.

Our crew have had a busy few days with 4 callouts in 5 days. We’ve had two medical evacuations, a search in some very wet and windy conditions and returned 17 paddleboarders to shore since Thursday.

We’ll be launching again at 7pm this evening for our Tuesday training session. And tonight we’ll be joined by some of our colleagues from and Salcombe RNLI for a joint training exercise in Hope Cove.

All of this is thirsty and hungry work but fear not. Refreshments are on hand as the Hope Cove Life Boat bar, run by , Hope Cove Life Boat beer at , and will all be there tonight to keep you fed and watered, and help us raise much needed funds to keep us afloat. We’ll be launching shortly after 7pm so come enjoy the sunset and show your support. We’ll see you later!

It's a beautiful day on the beach today. But it's not a good day for paddleboarding. The lifeboat has been launched and has so far rescued 6 people and counting, all caught by the offshore breeze. Our shore crew and the coastguard are advising paddleboarders in particular not to take to the water

Exciting news!

We’ve got a lifeboat beer! Our good friends at , Tom and Jen have launched a new Hope Cove Life Boat beer, with some of the proceeds helping to keep the lifeboat afloat. Our crew went for a tasting after training this week and we can confirm it gets out approval. But don’t just take our word for it, get yourself up to Hope Cove House and try it for yourself!

And if beer is not your thing then don’t worry, you can still support us. Because from this Tuesday our Hope Cove Tuesday Nights are back. will be running our Hope Cove Life Boat bar in Inner Hope this year and are bringing a range of themed drinks along, many using vodka made from the potatoes grown on their family farm overlooking Hope Cove. will be there too so you can be fed and watered, enjoy a Hope Cove Sunset and raise funds to support the lifeboat.

As for us, we’ll be training from 7pm. Save us a drink someone, please!
