After a bit of a break our crew were back on the water last week for some training.

We’ve been off services recently due to a major engine issue, but thanks to the brilliant work of Graham & Ben from our engines are now back up and running as they should. Both engines have had a major overhaul to get them ready for the season. Thanks for all your help guys. BLS did a great job of looking after us, but even with their generous support it was still a big bill.

Properly powered up we were back on the water on Tuesday evening last week, and did our annual flare training, spreading a little light over Bolt Tail and the bay at the same time.

Then we launched again on Saturday, putting our boat handling skills to the test with a bit of a swell and a low tide combining to make launch and recovery “interesting.” Let's just say Mark, our launch driver, got so wet he had to go home and change. Hope you've dried out Mark.

Our crew train every week on a Tuesday evening as part of their commitment to be ready whenever the pagers sound. If you’d like to support us then you can visit our website or donate on our just giving page. Thanks for all your support

If you’re looking for something to do over the next few days then why not go visit our friends at The Sloop Inn Bantham. They’re hosting a bauble challenge – guess how many baubles are in the pub. It only cost £1 to enter – the winner gets 25% of the pot and the rest goes to support Hope Cove Life Boat.

And whilst you’re there can we recommend their roast – they hosted us for our Christmas get together a couple of weeks and the roast was a big hit with the crew.

The Sloop have been a big supporter of Hope Cove Life Boat – thanks for all you’ve done for us!

Merry Christmas from all of us at Hope Cove Life Boat.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Sloop Inn Bantham for housing one of our electronic donation machines, and to everyone who’s donated. Your continued support and the generosity of so many customers genuinely helps keep us afloat and saving lives in Bigbury Bay.

We are an independent life boat which means we have to raise all our own funds. So every tap, every pound, makes a difference to our independent lifeboat.

And if you want an excuse to go out and donate then remember it’s The Sloop’s Fish n chip Friday special today. We’ll see you there!

We know it’s not December just yet… but it will be soon.

And that means it will soon be time to get your Christmas decorations sorted. So why not join our wreath making session next Sunday, December 7th, from 1030 to 1230 at Galmpton Village Hall. You get to create a beautiful wreath, enjoy some mince pies and mulled wine, and to raise funds to help keep hope cove life boat afloat at the same time.

One more sleep to go…

Because tomorrow is the Hope Cove Life Boat Open Day.

Meet the crew, try your luck in a drysuit race, grab yourself a lifeboat hoodie, have a pizza from and more.

The forecast looks ok – but probably not the weather for sunbathing on the beach. So come join the fun at the lifeboat station instead.

We’ll be there from 10am to 2pm.

Time for a big Thank You.

Summer Tuesday evenings in Hope Cove are now officially “A thing.” And a big part of that is the pizzas from . Georgina’s been feeding hungry holidaymakers and residents alike whilst we’ve been out training. And a couple of weeks ago she came to visit us and bring a donation.
