Hi All
This is a request which hopefully will help everyone stay safe. Please can you all dispose of your batteries in a safe and considerate way. Be it Nicad batteries,lithium ion batteries or any other type of rechargeable batteries and of course any other type. These batteries can start fires in waste trucks when the compactor crushes the rubbish and also are a problem at the rubbish tips as well.
It’s a serious concern now and we are asking for your help in disposing of them properly, Thank you in advance

The recent damage to the A379 at Torcross means we have less access options in the area and for Slapton Village in particular.

This afternoon we took our fire engine and crew van from Kingsbridge on a little road trip to familiarise ourselves with the best ways to get to and around your village.

Unfortunately, although we all know your village doesn’t have the widest roads, some parking is not going to help with emergency services reaching you.

It rained after the gritters were out last night around town and it’s extremely icy everywhere this morning.

If you can wait a while for the sun to thaw it out if you can.

Always fully defrost your windscreen and windows fully before starting a journey.

We hope that everyone is coping as best as they can with the ongoing Gas Supply issues in Kingsbridge, Malborough & Salcombe.

Wales & West Utilities latest update has the below request to landlords, letting agents and key holders below:

“
We still have a high number of properties in Salcombe where we have not been able to gain access. This means we have engineers still working to gain access to them in order to switch the gas valve off.

We would ask that any landlords, letting agents or designated key holders for properties in Salcombe and are aware the property is empty get in contact with us immediately to discuss ways for us to gain access. This can be done by approaching one of the many engineers we have working in the area directly or by calling us on 0800 912 2999.

If anyone does smell gas in the area, then please contact the National Gas Emergency number on 0800 111 999.
“

Although that request mentions Salcombe specifically, there are still properties in Malborough and Kingsbridge needing to be accessed too.

Well good evening on what was a lovely day with the sun shining for most of the day , as the day and year come to an end and we welcome in a New Year. Kingsbridge and surrounding stations

Thanks to all who came to Fore St today for Kingsbridge does Xmas
It was great to see everyone.
