Kingsclere Community Orchard
Damsons and plums should be ready from late August to early September, with apples and pears following from September onwards. Fruit is ready to pick when it comes away from the tree easily with a gentle twist. There are already plenty of fallen apples, perfect for crumbles and pies, and the hedgerows are also worth a look for blackberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries.

Residents who want to recycle more can now take their plastic pots, tubs, trays, tubes and cartons to the six council-owned recycling sites across the borough, with more sites being explored.

The temporary mixed plastics banks have been introduced at:

✅ Brighton Hill Parade, Brighton Hill Centre
✅ Castons Car Park, Basingstoke town centre
✅ Overton Hill Car Park, Overton
✅ Popley Fields Community Centre, Carpenters Down
✅ The Fieldgate Centre, Kingsclere
✅ Winklebury Centre, Winklebury

The banks will provide more opportunities for you to recycle while Hampshire County Council develops a new recycling sorting facility. Once operational, the facility will allow even more items, including plastic pots, tubs, trays, tubes and cartons, to be recycled at the kerbside from 2028.

🚰 Hosepipe Ban in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight from 10 July 🚰

The River Test, one of the world’s rarest chalk streams, is under pressure after months of hot, dry weather. In June, river flows fell to 25% below normal levels.

We’re working hard to protect water supplies and the environment by:
💧Cutting leaks across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight
💧Investing in new reservoirs, water recycling and transfer pipelines
💧Improving chalk stream habitats and migration routes for wildlife

To help protect the River Test and ensure there’s enough water for everyone this summer, a hosepipe ban will come into effect from 10 July for water customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

Thank you to everyone who supported last year’s ban, helping reduce demand by 5%. We’re asking customers to start saving water now, because every drop counts.

Recent rainfall has been low and much of June’s rain was absorbed by dry soils rather than replenishing the aquifers that feed our rivers.

Find out more about restrictions, exemptions and water-saving tips in our FAQs. https://ow.ly/1n8H50ZjVJR
