Here’s what's new in the library catalogue for September! 💚

Can’t spot what you want to read on our shelves? You can search for titles on our online library catalogue, reserve books and have them delivered to the library.

Following a customer enquiry today we would just like to reassure everybody that:

1. Open Plus is not replacing our usual staffed hours. We will still be open with a member of staff here at all the usual times. Open Plus is an additional service which we hope will benefit some people who cannot make it during our usual hours. Nobody will need to learn about it if they do not want to.

2. While a lot of the work has been done to instal hardware for Open Plus, it is not completely up and running yet and is expected to start later in the autumn, possibly in October.

3. We will let you all know as soon as possible when we are ready to train people to use the new service.

We will be reopening tomorrow at 10am so if anyone has finished their Summer Book Quest, this would be a great time to come and see us!

Just a reminder that we will be closed from Monday-Friday of next week for work in connection with the new OpenPlus facility. We will let you know as soon as possible when you will be able to sign up to use this (which will require a short induction).

We will be open as usual on Saturday 29th and closed on Monday 31st for the Bank Holiday.

Our computer has been automatically allowing an extra week's borrowing time for anyone whose books would otherwise have been due back during this closure, so your books will not become overdue unless they were borrowed at a different library. If in doubt, why not call in this week to have your books renewed?

Please be aware that we will be closed from Monday 24th-Friday 28th August for alterations to prepare for our new OpenPlus facility. This will mean that at certain times when the library is closed, people with a valid library card will still be able to come inside to return and borrow books using a self-service machine. This will not affect the usual staffed opening hours but we hope it will be helpful to customers who work longer hours.

As always, our sister libraries will be happy to help you in person or on the phone if you need any help.

We will update as soon as possible on when you will be able to learn how to use this system.

Can you help us share the books everyone wants to read this month? 📚

There’s high demand for our 10 most wanted titles, and many eager customers are waiting to borrow them. We’ve purchased as many copies as our budget allows, but if you’re able to help, we’d be truly grateful.

If you have a pristine copy, you’ve finished reading - whether it’s one you bought yourself or received as a gift - you can donate it at any library in Devon or Torbay. We’ll add it to our collection to help reduce the waiting list.
