Newsletter delivery persons required

Help Shape Kingsteignton's Community Emergency Plan.

Kingsteignton Town Council is developing a Community Emergency Plan and is inviting residents, businesses and local organisations to help shape it.

A Community Emergency Plan is designed to support the town during emergencies such as severe weather, flooding, prolonged power outages, major road incidents or other events that may affect our community. While the emergency services will always lead the response to major incidents, a local plan helps ensure that our community is prepared to support residents until additional assistance is available.

The Town Council would like to hear from people who:

• Have ideas about potential risks affecting Kingsteignton.
• Know of community resources that could be helpful during an emergency.
• Would be willing to volunteer their time or skills if required.
• Represent businesses, local organisations, charities or community groups that could assist in supporting residents.
• We are particularly keen to identify local knowledge, community assets and practical skills such as first aid, welfare support, transport, communications, catering, and other resources that may be valuable in times of need.

Over the coming months, the Council will:

• Invite residents to share their views on local risks and priorities.
• Hold a community engagement session to gather ideas and local knowledge.
• Work with partner organisations to develop the plan.
• Publish a draft Community Emergency Plan for consultation before it it considered for adoption by the Town Council.

This is an opportunity for everyone to play a part in strengthening the resilience of our community.

Gas upgrade work starting soon in Kingsteignton.

It is planned that Wales & West Utilities will commence the first phase of the project to upgrade gas pipes in Kingsteignton from Monday 7th September.

The work is vital to ensure gas continues to flow safely and reliably to homes and businesses across the area - helping to keep people warm for decades to come.

The work has been planned in conjunction with Devon County Council and it has been agreed that traffic management will be in place during the project. This initially includes multiway traffic lights, which will be manually operated, on the junction of Exeter Road and Clifford Avenue between the 7th and 29th September.
The project is part of Wales & West Utilities work to invest over £2.4 million over the next two years to upgrade gas pipes in Kingsteignton.

The intensive programme of wider mains replacement works will see over 8 kilometres of gas pipes upgraded across the area as the company upgrades the critical energy infrastructure in the area to benefit local customers.

🌟📸 Only one week left to enter The Kingsteignton Lantern Photography Competition! 📸🌟
Do you have a sharp eye for a great shot? Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a smartphone snapper, we want to see Kingsteignton through your lens.
To celebrate our town’s unique blend of heritage and natural beauty, The Kingsteignton Lantern is launching it’s first photography competition. The winning entry will be showcased on the front cover of our Autumn edition and we will share other entries in a special centrefold.
You don’t need a fancy camera to win. We are looking for impact and storytelling over technical perfection. Catch the morning mist over The Fountain or the glorious trees at Oakford Lawn.
We would love to see the moments that truly illuminate our town and can’t wait to see all your entries.
