A brilliant summer project for us at SFD!

We’ve completed a full CCTV upgrade at Scarborough TEC - coordinated for the summer holidays to keep disruption low and make sure everything could be delivered safely and efficiently. With students still around on campus, we worked fully within education‑sector compliance requirements and maintained the high standards we’re known for.

This was a full modernisation of the college’s security infrastructure, including:

🔵97 new IP cameras installed across internal and external areas

🟣57 legacy COAX cameras replaced with modern IP technology

🔵57 CAT6 data points installed, terminated, and Fluke certified

🟣A custom 8‑metre CCTV podium constructed with four new surveillance cameras

🔵Wireless CCTV solutions deployed to remote external locations

🟣Additional infrastructure installed to support future expansion

A proper top‑to‑bottom upgrade that strengthens safety, improves coverage, and gives Scarborough TEC a future‑ready CCTV network.

And being beside the seaside definitely had its perks… unlimited access to fish and chips and a cheeky cup of cockles kept us going nicely. 🐟

We’re proud of the hard work and professionalism that went into this one. Proud to offer a local service with national delivery. And proud to support organisations across our region with safer, more reliable security.

We’re running a “This Is Us” series, to introduce you to the people and personalities behind the work – the ones turning up at your office or site, answering the phones, sending the emails, and keeping the pace of the place.

And today, we’re introducing Eric.

By day, he delivers projects to a genuinely high standard. A proven track record, a steady head, and the kind of pride in his work that shows in every job he oversees. He’s also recently completed his Level 3 Fire Fundamentals training - another step in strengthening his capabilities and demonstrating the commitment he brings to the role.

Outside of work, he’s a mix of football weekends, charity challenges, and a soundtrack everyone knows.

He’s Eric in his own words:

Weekend alter‑ego: York City fan - home or away, if there’s a match on, I’m there with my son. It’s our thing. The highs, the lows, the questionable refereeing… all part of the ritual.

Your soundtrack: The Killers – Mr Brightside. The one song that gets everyone going, whether it’s a long drive, a match day playlist, or just shaking off a busy week.

Biggest personal achievement: A 15,000ft charity skydive - equal parts terrifying and exhilarating. One of those moments where you land, look around, and think, “Yeah… I actually did that.”

We’re thrilled to announce that we are officially registered as Bondholders, and we couldn’t be more excited about what this means for our growth, collaboration, and community impact across the Humber region.

At 24‑7 Security Fire & Data, we’re proud to celebrate two milestones that show what progression looks like across our team.

First, a huge congratulations to Gemma Bottomley, who has successfully completed her Level 5 Operations Management apprenticeship - 18 months of hard work, workshops, and assessments that’s strengthened our operational leadership.

And as one apprenticeship wraps up, another begins. Alfie Booth, who joined us in March 2025, recently attended his first on‑site training module in Warrington, as he begins his Fire and Security engineer apprenticeship. (He even placed top of the class on several days!). Alfie’s shown a fantastic work ethic and has learned a great deal from the senior engineers he’s worked alongside. Now, it’s time to build on that foundation with industry‑specific training to sharpen his technical skillset even further.

We’re proud to see both office and engineering talent climbing together toward success - proof that growth happens at every level when you invest in people. 🚀

Today, meet Gemma - or Gem to those who know her.

By day, she keeps things calm and steady... laid‑back and quietly confident - She’s the one who keeps people grounded, keeps the pace sensible, and somehow stays calm even when everyone else is in full chaos mode.

Outside of work, she’s all about her loved ones - Spending time with her family is her favourite thing to do, whether that's watching the footy (Liverpool and the mighty Hall Road Rangers!), sipping home made slushy cocktails in the quiet of the garden, or activating pirate mode for a few rums in the Old Town, she surrounds herself with those closest.

Here she is, in her own words:

Your weekend personality:
“A karaoke pirate with football‑manager tendencies and garden‑ornament energy. I’m either sat outside doing absolutely nothing, singing karaoke badly with a spiced rum, or shouting tactical advice at the TV as if I'm Jurgen Klopp.”

Your biggest achievement:
“Its a bit cheesy, but its my two boys, Alfie and George. Two brilliant, totally different human beings - my joy and my peace and absolutely the best thing I've ever done. They're awesome”

Best thing about Hull:
“I was asked this recently at an event, and the answer is easy - its the people. Hull people are genuine, honest, and friendly. They'll help out complete strangers out of the goodness of their hearts, and always do it with a smile on their faces”

Today, meet Mackenzie - or as she’s been known over the years: Kenz, Kenno, Mad‑Kenzie… but Macca is the one that stuck.

And today also happens to be her birthday (Happy birthday Macca!), so this one comes with extra sparkle ✨

By day, she keeps the wheels turning - Operations Administrator, organiser of chaos, and proud owner of a habit we’ve all witnessed: she talks to herself… constantly!
Not quietly either - full conversations, debates, narrations, and occasional arguments with her own thoughts... It’s part of her charm ☺️

Outside of work, she’s a mix of cocktails, opinions, and selective chaos.

“I’d like to think I’m a retired menace. I’ve calmed down a lot over the last year, but when a night out comes around I tend to go back to my old ways.”

“Either a double vodka and coke, or if cocktails are on the go I’ll give anything a go - but I am partial to a Mojito or a Pina Colada.”

Your most controversial opinion:
“Crisp sandwiches are all kinds of wrong. The textures don’t belong together.”

And today, we’re introducing Mike

By day, he sets the pace and the standards. (High standards - in work and in brews!). Mike keeps the team on track with a mix of dry humour, common sense, and the occasional “right, let’s get this sorted”.

Outside of work, he's a mix of quiet miles, loud playlists, and the occasional bit of golf‑related chaos. He's Mike in his own words:

Weekend alter‑ego:
Avid walker. Give me a field, a decent pair of boots, and Hogarth for company over the telly any day.

Your soundtrack:
Break Stuff – Limp Bizkit (if you know, you know)

Go‑to drink on a works night out:
Rum (spiced) & Coke as standard, though Rum (spiced) & Pineapple has been muscling in since a recent holiday.

Biggest personal achievement:
Getting round 18 holes without losing my temper, my ball, or my dignity, happens about one round in ten, and I celebrate accordingly.

Most 'you' moment:
Getting out on my motorcycle for a “proper” ride. It's one of the very few ways which allow me to properly switch off – not from the moment, from everything else. Head empty, just the road.
