People should be concerned that planning decisions are being taken away from local people and handed to Mayor Luke

Planning decisions should be made locally, not handed upwards to regional mayors or stripped away from councillors! 🛑

The East Riding Liberal Democrats are speaking out against changes that risk silencing local communities and pushing planning decisions further away from the people who have to live with the consequences.

"Of course we need more homes and we need economic growth. But that does not mean that local democracy should be swept aside whenever a development becomes politically inconvenient."

📢 End the "Postcode Lottery" for bus travel!

The East Riding Liberal Democrats are calling for an end to the unfair peak-time restrictions on the older person’s bus pass.

While neighboring areas have already moved to make travel easier for seniors, residents in the East Riding are still facing restrictions depending on where they live. East Riding Liberal Democrats are pushing for these barriers to be scrapped, ensuring that residents can access essential early morning appointments and community services regardless of their postcode.

“Now that we have a mayoral combined authority covering both Hull and East Riding, it doesn’t make any sense at all to have different concessionary travel arrangements in the two local authority areas." “I’m urging Mayor Campbell to do the right thing, and end the unfair penalisation of East Riding pensioners by equalising the arrangements across the combined mayoral authority.”
