Congratulations to all those from the area who have been recognised in the King's Birthday honours list.

The list has honoured those in education, the charity sector, policing and much more. It is good to see all their efforts acknowledged in this way.

Volunteers, charity leaders, educators and community champions are receiving awards for their contributions across the region

Good news. I am sure we are all looking forward to this popular museum re-opening to the public.

Brilliant to see that The Wonders of Moominvalley exhibition at the Ferens Art gallery is pulling in lots of families. Great way to get young ones into the art gallery.

It is on until the 6th September.

I appreciated the chance to sit down with the Food for Cowboys team and run through what the council will do to help during the upcoming works, but also significantly hear from them the plans they have to support the hospitality sector in the city. Mine is a genuine commitment to help them with their aims. Importantly, this is something that will be best led by those in the industry and it is really encouraging to see their commitment to both the businesses in the area but also the city itself. I am going to do all I can to make sure the council support them in their actions.

I am sure I’ll be back soon to enjoy a meal there!

At today's council AGM I was re-elected as leader of Hull City Council. It's an incredible honour to continue in this role.

Under the Lib Dem administration in the last few years we have brought in a number of new initiatives for the city. From the Crime Prevention Fund, to the 'Love Your Neighbourhood' scheme and much more, we have been working hard to make it a council that puts the interests of Hull and it's communities first.

I have valued the support of so many people across the city, in the different community groups, the business community and beyond. I look forward to carrying on working with all of you.

Hull is a great city. Let's continue our collective efforts to get the best for Hull and everyone who lives, works or visits here.
