This week, our team attended the Fire Safety Event 2026 in Birmingham — one of the industry’s leading events dedicated to fire safety innovation, compliance, and education.

Bringing together over 13,500 professionals, the event gave us the opportunity to explore the latest fire safety products, technologies, and regulatory updates from more than 300 exhibitors, alongside CPD-accredited seminars and live demonstrations.

It was a fantastic few day’s networking with industry professionals, discovering new innovations, and gaining valuable insights that help us continue delivering the highest standards across our work.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the event such a success — we’re looking forward to putting what we’ve learned into practice.

A big thank you for an afternoon training session with Adrian Paynter from Quelfire, where he provided valuable guidance to the Firewall team on the correct use of the Quelfire selector system.

The session covered how to identify and apply the most suitable fire stopping solutions for different pe*******on requirements, along with a detailed review of the wide range of products and tested details that Quelfire has developed and certified.

A great opportunity for the Firewall team to strengthen their understanding of firestopping.

Fire doors: critical by design, not an afterthought.
On new commercial build projects, correctly specified and installed fire doors are essential to maintaining compartmentation and protecting escape routes.

Checks and inspections

In the UK, fire door inspection frequency is guided by several regulations and standards, mainly the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. The exact interval depends on the type of building and door location.

In the UK:
• Most workplaces / commercial buildings:
o Visual check: every 3–6 months
o Full inspection: once a year by a competent person.
• High-rise residential buildings (over 11 m) under the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022:
o Communal fire doors: every 3 months
o Flat entrance doors: once a year
These requirements sit under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
