Last week we made clay flower frogs to fit our recycled jars. This morning we decorated our jars and created some lovely flower arrangements together. After our delicious fresh baked pain au chocolat treats we finished off our creations before a lovely home cooked lunch of chicken casserole followed by a retro dessert of peaches and custard. This afternoon we had a great time playing doms and going through our reminiscing basket of goodies, reading old postcards and chatting about bygone days… 🥰

We are very fortunate to have the fabulous vocals of Rachel at our Day Centre and Upper Eden Silver Circle events. She has a vast repertoire of songs and this week she was performing songs from the swinging sixties. A great crowd and lots of dancing to some great sixties hits. Here’s a couple of songs from her superb performance 🥰

Lunch is a sociable affair here at The Day Centre… there were lots of folks for today’s lunch, which was delicious hand finished quiche with oven baked potatoes and choice of baked beans sweetcorn or peas followed by a selection of yummy cream cakes and cheesecakes.. our menu is varied each session, it could be a nutritious home cooked roast dinner or fresh cooked casserole, maybe bangers and mash, poached salmon or a suet crust pie, cottage pie, stew, dumplings…. All just like Grandma used to make and always flanked by a scrumptious dessert with lashings of custard or cream…. Firm favourites are our rice puddings, fruit crumbles and pavlovas… our afternoon teatime treat today was chocolate and cherry loaf 😍

So, the brief today was…… a little exercise class in the afternoon to practise our upper body balance and coordination skills, let me introduce our VERY COMPETITIVE pool noodle hockey teams!!! You’ll have to excuse the belly laughs 🤣😂🫣🙈
