Wesham turned into Westminster last week. ๐Ÿ‘€

It was great to visit St Joseph's Primary School and transform the classroom into the House of Commons for a Question Time session.

We discussed everything from local issues to whether social media should be banned for under-16s. There were certainly some strong opinions on that one!

Thanks to the staff and pupils for making me so welcome.

Pleased to see the new storm gully lids have now been fitted on Victoria Road. This is something I've been pushing for over a long period and should help improve drainage when heavy rain hits. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

๐ŸŒฟ Finally! This overgrown A583 pavement is getting sorted!

I've had a number of residents get in touch about the pavement between Kirkham Grammar School and the Freckleton Street traffic lights. The bushes and undergrowth had spread so far across the path that people were having to step into the road to get past.

I've raised the issue with the Council and I'm pleased they've now agreed to cut everything back and clear the pavement properly.

The work needs lane closures and traffic management, but the council is aiming to get it done by the end of July.

It's one of those issues that might seem small, but it makes a real difference to people walking, running and getting around safely. ๐Ÿ‘

The small things matter. That's why I raised concerns with Northern about the state of the glass above the lifts and around the footbridge at Kirkham & Wesham Station. I'm really pleased to see the work has now been done. It might not sound like much, but it makes a real difference and the station is looking much better as a result.

A lot of the credit for keeping the station looking its best belongs to the brilliant volunteers at Grow Kirkham & Wesham. They do a fantastic job and are currently looking for more people to get involved with their Platform 4 nature area. If you'd like to lend a hand and make a difference locally, you can contact them at [email protected]. Even a few hours of your time can make a real difference. ๐ŸŒฟ
