Are you part of a community group with a great idea for a new project? Do you know a local organisation which could benefit from a boost?

The Council’s new Local Community Grant Fund aims to make a positive difference across the area.

Organisations can apply for total funding up to a maximum of £4,000. The closing date for the first round of funding is 21 September 2026.

The Living Wage Scotland Awards honour the best of the Living Wage network in Scotland. Finalists will be accredited Living Wage employers and supporters who have gone above and beyond in their commitment to the real Living Wage.

There are 7 award categories, allowing employers and individuals to demonstrate their dedication to people and communities.

NEWCOME (accredited from June 2025)
TRAILBLAZER (industry stand out)
EMPLOYEE CHOICE (employer nominated by employee)
LIVING HOURS (Living Hours champion)
LIVING PENSION (Living Pension champion)

The closing date for applications is Friday 14th August at 5pm. The finalists will be revealed in September with winners announced at the awards ceremony in November at the Riverside Museum in Glasgow.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant against doorstep crime and fraud.

With the recent summer weather, perhaps you’ve had an unexpected caller offering to carry out work in your garden or suggesting a repair.

Please take care:

* Not everyone is who they seem – only use reputable companies and try to get three quotes
* When in doubt, ask friends/family or use official schemes such as East Dunbartonshire Trusted Trader
* Say no to doorstep traders and cold callers, for example, offering to carry out roofing/guttering work – you could end up out of pocket
* Hang up on telephone scams – if it's too good to be true then it likely is.

East Dunbartonshire Council are offering local businesses an opportunity to access funding to help with the costs of creating new engineering related apprenticeships. Four grants of up £7500 will be available to help with the costs of training and wages. The funding will be paid over the initial 6 months of the apprenticeship. Please note eligibility and an application assessment process will apply to applications. This programme is funded by the Scottish Government.
