Update from Stagecoach at 15.01:

Due to road closure @ (A960) the 34A 35 36 from KGS will be subject to delays as these services have to divert via Wilderness Junction

Stagecoach has advised that, due to a full road closure (Old Scapa Rd), the school bus 37 serving KGS will follow a diversion until 09.10.2026

AM route: Glaitness Rd - Hight St - Junction Rd - Holm Branch Rd - KGS

PM route: KGS - The Meadows - Clay Loan - Junction Rd - High St - Glaitness Rd

KGS Service Update
Due to a recent building fire on Halley Road in Deerness, the 36 Deerness-KGS service, will not service Link Road and Halley road, Instead diverting along Denwick Road and resuming normal route at Newark Road, until further notice.

Due to the resurfacing works being carried out on the Finstown to Tingwall road. There may be some delays to the following School services.

440 KGS - Tingwall
442 Stromness Academy - Swanney
447 Stromness Academy - Rendal
464 Firth Primary School

‼️Deerness R36‼️

Due to Halley Road closure, the school bus R36 is unable to pick up or drop off pupils on this route. Pupils should be prepared to meet the bus on the A960.
This is likely to apply for KGS transition days Tuesday 9th and Wednesday 10th June.

All surface dressing works will be carried out under road closure conditions with diversion routes being provided where possible, with roads being reopened to traffic overnight.
Access to affected properties maintained at the discretion of site staff as and when possible and with inevitable delays.
School transport will be accommodated and managed through all the sites however access is highly likely to be subject to delays.

S1 transition days KGS & SA

The letters have been sent to confirm bus routes for the new S1 intake. If you have not received a letter by the end of this week, please make sure you have completed an application. This can be done online or by asking your primary school for a paper copy. Without an application pupils will not be assigned to school transport.

A961 (Wilderness Junction to St Mary's Village) - 09/06/2026 to 12/06/2026. The X1 will follow a diversion route via A960 (airport road) and B9052 past St Andrews Primary School during this closure.
A966 (A965 Junction to Norseman Village) - 15/06/2026 to 23/06/2026. The No.6 Tingwall service may experience delays on the inbound journey.
