🔥Help reduce the risk of wildfires

🚫Do not start fires.
🥪Swap BBQs for picnics.
🚬Discard ci******es responsibly.
🗑️Clear away rubbish, bottles and broken glass, as they can magnify the sun and start a fire.
📞🚒See a fire? Call 999

All fires are emergencies, especially in current dry conditions. If you see a wildfire, keep well away from the area. Do not attempt to tackle the fire yourself. Call 999 immediately and give the location as clearly as possible.

We have been incredibly busy so far this year and are always happy to help when called upon, whatever the emergency!
This past week we have been on multiple calls ranging from alarms, RTCs, Vehicle Fires and as you are all surely aware of, the massive hill fires in Rhayader and Llangynidr / Ebbw Vale!!

WAYS TO HELP!

During this unprecedented period of wildfires, our resources have been stretched to the limit. Our control room staff, our fellow crews across Wales and neighbouring English services, the farming community, contractors and volunteers just to mention a few; have all been incredible.
You've all seen it on the TV and on the socials, smelt it in the air and probably seen us driving about heading to yet another job.
The outpouring of messages and support is amazing. Each station is feeling that same support from its community as well. But the question we get asked the most is.. 'How can we help to support you guys?' Well, here is a list of things that can really help us:

1) Donate directly to the Firefighters Charity here in the UK.

2) Bring your unwanted clothes to our yellow bin on Station. This is a great way to help.

* it's a competition between stations for the most clothes collected each year *

3) And finally, join us! Retained stations are always recruiting. Expressing interest in a station is the first step to becoming a firefighter. Click the link below and fill out an Expression of Interest form and we will be in touch.

Behind every emergency response is a Fire Control team.

As firefighters continue to respond to wildfires and other incidents across the country, Fire Control teams have been working around the clock, dealing with thousands of calls and coordinating resources in extremely challenging conditions.

Their professionalism, resilience and calm decision-making help ensure help reaches those who need it most.

Phil Garrigan, NFCC Chair, said, "We also recognise the extraordinary efforts of firefighters, control teams and support staff who continue to work around the clock in extremely challenging conditions to protect life, property and the environment."

🔥PLEASE DON’T START
FIRES ANYWHERE 🔥

With the current dry conditions, we’re asking everyone in our community to please think twice before lighting bonfires, BBQs, fireworks or any other outdoor fires.

What may seem like a small, controlled fire can quickly spread and become extremely difficult to control — putting people, property, wildlife and our local countryside at risk. 🚒🔥

Our fire service is already stretched, with crews responding to a high number of incidents and ongoing fires across the area. Every avoidable fire puts additional pressure on our crews and resources.

If you see anyone acting suspiciously around areas at risk of fire, please report it to the Police by calling 101. If you believe a fire is being deliberately started or there is an immediate danger, call 999.

Please help us prevent unnecessary incidents, keep our crews available for those who genuinely need us, and protect our countryside. ❤️🚒
