Knutsford Heritage Centre

Knutsford Heritage Centre Knutsford Heritage Centre is set in the heart of Knutsford in a reconstructed 17th century timber fr The centre is open throughout the year.

Knutsford Heritage Centre is housed in a reconstructed 17th century timber framed building previously known as Musgrave’s Yard. Evidence of its previous existence as a tinsmith, ironmonger and brazier is clear, with a forge, anvil and an original set of bellows now preserved and all on display. Once no longer viable as an ironmonger’s, the site had sadly been left to ruin over the years but in 198

8, The Groundwork Trust invested £100,000 to renovate and develop the area into what is now The Heritage Centre. Working as an independent charity, The Heritage Centre continues to grow and develop, always aiming to ‘protect, present and promote Knutsford’s rich and diverse heritage for the benefit of its residents and visitors.’

Admission to the Centre is FREE but we welcome donations.

The heritage centre has a wonderful collection of early May Day memorabilia, including crowns, photographs and programmes.
We would love to find more programmes from the very early years, ie. pre 1930. Not only do they give a photo of the May Queen of the year but they contain valuable information and adverts.
We are fortunate to have a copy of the 1930 programme - a pretty boring cover, but a lovely photo of Miss Doris Wych who was the May Queen.
If you are able to help please contact the centre.

Thanks to all who visited the heritage centre pop-up stall on Knutsford market on Friday.
Amazing how many local people hadn't heard of us and were delighted to know there is somewhere in the town celebrating Knutsford's fascinating past.
We hope to pop-up again in the near future.
Watch where you're swinging that cutlass, Pirate Pete!
