A reminder that we are closed tomorrow between 12 - 4pm for staff training.

If anyone is wondering, our monthly staff training contributes significantly toward the mandatory skills we, as lifeguards, need to keep our certification valid and in date.

These sessions our team undertake focus heavily on our water rescue techniques and CPR, essential elements of our job and in our ability to keep you all safe and having fun.

If anyone is interested in the basics of CPR - you can find details here:

Approximately 100,000 people suffer an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year* - around 250 individuals every day. Survival rates remain stubbornly low, with just one in 10 people recovering, but we can all make a difference by learning lifesaving CPR skills. A staggering 80% of out-of-hospital c...

What a wonderful achievement from the 10 swimmers who braved challenging conditions to conquer our annual Kyleakin-2-Kyle Swim on Saturday, as part of Kyle Lifeboat RNLI's Maritime Day.

The results yesterday were as follows:

Finley Forrest 15.57
Rachel Stephenson 19.02
Julie Boger 21.13
Kirstie MacLeod 23.12
Kirsty Brown 23.15
Laura Reid 23.46
Emily John 23.46
Kathryn Rees 23.46
Julie Osborne 23.46
Eloise Dey 24.01

Each and every single one of you smashed it! And not only that, you're well on your way to help us raise nearly £3,500 (and counting) toward our continuing efforts to upgrade and refurbish the Leisure Centre. Amazing and thank you!

Finally, events like yesterday don't happen without a great deal of help, professionalism and attention to detail, so in no particular order, our most grateful thanks go to Kyle Lifeboat RNLI for their expertise and hospitality, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust, Kyle Hotel (Bespoke Hotels), Kyle Harbourmaster, Qinetiq, Willie Urquhart West Highland Free Press, Wendy Bell, the South Skye and Lochalsh Kayak Club, Emma Noble Designs and you, our fantastic community.

Thank you all! 🤩🙏🤩🙏🏊🏊‍♂️🏊🥇🥇🥇💜💜💜

A polite reminder regarding children's swimming lessons.

We no longer have a viewing area here at the centre, but parents are welcome to wait at reception, please note space is limited. We want to avoid parents and siblings surrounding gym equipment so please listen to staff to keep yourself and gym users safe.

It's also very off-putting for both learners and teachers to have an audience. We know from experience learning is better for all those involved if there are no distractions.

So please help us to deliver for everyone as best we can.

Our gym is unfortunately closed again today, as the fitting of our air conditioning unit has spilled into a second day.

It'll be back to normal tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Most of you will know we're lucky to have a talented, dedicated and friendly staff team here at LLC and three of them are taking part in some fantastic fitness challenges over the coming weeks to raise funds for new gym equipment.

Firstly, Kirsty and Elle will be tackling the K2K Swim on the 23rd May - the 970 metre swim over Loch Alsh.

Two weeks later, Elle and Lesley (ably assisted by Lisa Supper) will be taking part in the Tough Mudder.

And if that isn't enough, after that, Elle is running the Skye Half Marathon.

That's dedication for you!

And as we continue to pursue a fair funding settlement for our community from Highland Council, any extras we can contribute through fundraising helps us enormously toward improving and supplying basic equipment.

If you can see your way to sponsoring any of our lovely team to help them upgrade your gym equipment, we'd be enormously grateful. Links to their Just Giving pages and challenges are below.

Please share, and just as importantly, please sponsor.
