Social media community guidelines. We use social media as an additional means to engage with our communities. We want to keep you, our followers, informed of what’s happening in your area and provide you with crime prevention advice. We also know that you can be invaluable in assisting us with appeals for information. We want our social media accounts to be safe spaces for all who use them, so we
ask that all followers adhere to our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to hide or delete comments or block users who break these Community Guidelines. To ensure that our channels remain a safe space for everyone, we ask that those who engage with us on them use them in an appropriate manner and show courtesy, kindness, and respect for others. Remember everything you say on our social media accounts is public. You are legally responsible for what you say and post on our pages. Comments made by members of the public on our posts must not:
• contain spam links or deceive others.
• promote discrimination or bullying.
• be racist towards any person or contain racist language.
• name any victims or their families.
• be defamatory towards any person.
• be obscene, offensive, threatening, abusive, or hateful.
• contain any sexually explicit material.
• contain any violent material.
• contain any malicious communications.
• risk prejudicing active criminal proceedings.

• We reserve the right to determine, at our discretion, whether contributions to our social media channels breach our guidelines.
• We reserve the right to hide or delete comments made on our channels, as well as block users who do not follow these guidelines.
• We reserve the right to make a copy of any comments we deem appropriate for investigation as we feel necessary or is required for criminal justice purposes. Reporting

Please don’t post links to unlawful material in a public comment. Alternatively, you can report completely anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or by going to their website - crimestoppers.org.uk
If you come across something you think breaks a social media platform’s terms and conditions, you should report it to that platform.
