STAGBI was formed to be an independent breed society for the Standardbred horse, just like all the other breeds. One society responsible for the Standardbred breed which has been bred in this country since the 1800s. STAGBI was set up to provide the administration procedures necessitated by horse ownership, which were increasing as DEFRA and other Government agencies brought more and more legislat

ion into being, especially the horse passport and NED database. It responded to cries for more integrity within the "Standardbred industry" by setting procedures for stallion certification, service certificates, foal identification and micro-chipping at mark up, DNA and parental verification if necessary. The whole process is designed to create confidence for any buyer of a British-born Standardbred.

‼️EQUINE FLU‼️

It is now apparent that the current equine influenza outbreaks in the Uk are occurring more quickly and are wider spread than in 2019.
Following and emergency meeting convened by the British Equine Federation yesterday, it emerged that if the trend continues there will be a huge impact on this summer’s equestrian activities.
A report from the meeting states that Imports, sales and non vaccinated or lapsed vaccinated animals, particularly non TBs, natives and animals at the upcoming Appleby horse fair are of the greatest concern.

Any equine which is likely to mix with others, should, on welfare grounds, be vaccinated within the last 6 months, or don’t mix with others.

Whilst Standardbreds racing with BHRC & TROTBritain are required to vaccinate every 6 months, many other breeding standardbreds visiting studs may not be vaccinated.

At this current time, please consider if travelling your horse is necessary.

British Equestrian have issued the guidelines below.
