S.T.A.G.B.I. Standardbred and Trotting Horse Association of Great Britain & Ireland. Email : [email protected]

STAGBI was formed to be an independent breed society for the Standardbred horse, just like all the other breeds. One society responsible for the Standardbred breed which has been bred in this country since the 1800s. STAGBI was set up to provide the administration procedures necessitated by horse ownership, which were increasing as DEFRA and other Government agencies brought more and more legislation into being, especially the horse passport and NED database. It responded to cries for more integrity within the "Standardbred industry" by setting procedures for stallion certification, service certificates, foal identification and micro-chipping at mark up, DNA and parental verification if necessary. The whole process is designed to create confidence for any buyer of a British-born Standardbred.

🎉🎉CONGRATULATIONS to HOMEGROWN ALLIGATOR 🎉🎉

Winner of the Group 1 STAGBI GOLDEN GIRLS Final 2026 at York today.

Drawn 5 Homegrown Alligator (aka Ally) made her move from the gate and despite facing a strong cold headwind down the back stretch, she kept going.
A closely bunched field turned for home and strong challenges came from the chasing pack, especially Sureamsassy and Wicked, but giving up her title was not on the script and with gritted determination Ally won back to back Golden Girls Finals.

It was a super race and a great finish. Congratulations to all the mares, who will receive a complimentary dose of Doonbeg frozen semen (with thanks to Geoff Dunne).

Homegrown Alligator is a 6yo daughter of Rogue Hall US, out of Camden Claire - owned and bred by Peter Holgate, trained by Elsa McKechnie and driven by BHRC Leading Driver for 2026, James Haythornthwaite.

STAGBI would like to thank the connections of all the mares that have supported the races and to the tracks Amman Valley, Tir Prince and YORK Harness Raceway for hosting the Races. We look forward to seeing you all back in 2027.

Result:
1st Homegrown Alligator 2.03.2
2nd Sureamsassy 2.03.4
3rd Wicked 2.03.5
4th On Fire Belle 2.03.6
5th Stashed 2.04.2
