🐾🚒 Supporting Guide Dogs at Douglas Community Fire Station

Yesterday the crew from C25 Douglas were delighted to assist Guide Dogs Scotland as part of their vital training programme.

Our firefighters provided access to the station, the appliance, and a range of lighting and equipment so the dogs could safely experience different visual environments. These controlled scenarios help prepare the dogs for the real‑world situations they’ll face when supporting people with sight loss.

The dogs handled it brilliantly — calm, confident, and curious — and it was a privilege for our crew to play a small part in their journey.

A huge thank you to the Guide Dogs team for the incredible work they do every day. We’re proud to support such an important cause within our community.

This will be an ongoing engagement as more new puppies come into Guide Dogs Scotland🐶🚒

🔥 Wildfire warning for Central and Eastern Scotland 🔥

There is a very high risk of wildfire in these areas until Sunday, 26 April.

Wildfires have the potential to destroy property, landscapes and wildlife. All it takes is one spark to spread, causing a large amount of damage.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a 'harmless' fire.

🚒 Share this wildfire warning to help spread the word.

🔥 Douglas Community Fire Station Needs You! 🔥

Join us on a 31‑hour contract and make a real difference in your community.

We’re looking for committed, community‑minded people to join our on‑call crew at Douglas Community Fire Station. If you’re reliable, calm under pressure, and want to be part of something genuinely meaningful, this could be your moment.

🚒 When do we need you most?

Our biggest gaps in appliance availability are during weekday daytime hours, especially:

Even covering just part of these times can make a huge difference to keeping Douglas protected and our appliance on the run.

👩‍🚒 What’s in it for you?
- A minimum 31‑hour per week contract
- Full training provided
- A chance to serve your community
- A role that builds confidence, skills, and teamwork
- The pride of knowing you’re helping keep Douglas and surrounding areas safe

🌟 Who can apply?

Anyone over the age of 18, who had a good level of fitness and who lives or works close enough to respond quickly to the station during the day. Whether you’re self‑employed, working flexible hours, or looking for a new challenge — we’d love to hear from you.

📩 Interested?
Send us a message or drop by the station for a chat. You might be exactly who we’re missing.
