We’ve been made aware of an unfortunate incident in the park last weekend. A local resident was walking around the lake, without a dog, when she passed someone walking 2 dogs. One of the dogs unexpectedly bit her on the leg, resulting in several puncture wounds which required a visit to A&E.
We don’t know what caused the dog to react in this way, dogs can react unexpectedly for many different reasons and thankfully, incidents like this are not something we hear about very often at Brooklands.
What was particularly disappointing, however, was that the person with the dog did not check that the lady was okay and was very dismissive.
Accidents and unexpected incidents can happen, but please, if your dog does hurt or frighten someone, stop and make sure they are alright. A little kindness and concern can make a big difference.
Brooklands Park is a shared space for everyone, dog walkers, families, children, runners, wildlife watchers and those simply enjoying a walk around the lake. 💚
Please be considerate, be responsible and look out for one another so that we can all continue to enjoy our lovely park. 🌳🐾
