What a day!! Saturday was our 4th Annual Laneham Olympics and we reckon it was the best yet! The weather was perfect, with a very sporting crowd, and smiles all round. Have a look through the photos below and see if you can find yourself!

We've counted up the takings and after costs we've raised just over £700! We'll be making a donation to St Peter's Church to help with repairs to the Markham Memorial, and the rest goes to the Laneham Memorial Hall charity to ensure this vital part of the village stays open and available to all.

A huge thanks to the team of volunteers from Laneham Memorial Hall who worked tirelessly for months to put this event on. It's a small but mighty team and if you would like to be a part of it we'd be delighted to welcome you in.

And equally huge thanks to:

The Bees Knees Laneham and The Ferryboat Inn at Church Laneham not only for supplying much of the drink and bar for the day, but also for being great sports and making the Tug of War the centrepiece of the event.

To all the other local businesses and Laneham Parish Council who donated prizes for the raffle, money to pay for essentials and gave up their time to help set up

To the people who helped in putting up tents, setting out the bar, lifting and shifting tables, chairs, bbqs, games, kegs and bales - thank you! And to BBC Radio 2's Vernon Kay for giving the event a shout out on the radio on Friday's show!! That was a nice surprise...

And finally of course to the wonderful residents of Laneham, Church Laneham, visitors to Trentfield Farm Camping and Caravanning, and all our friends, neighbours and families who came along to enjoy the day, take part, and spend some money. It's all well and good organising an event like this, but it only works if you come along... which you did in your droves!!

THIS SATURDAY - LANEHAM OLYMPICS IS HERE!!

Whatever event you’re going in for, now is your time to shine!! Welly wang, egg & spoon, three legged race, drunken relay, keg lift - there is something for everyone.

And of course, the finale of the Olympics is always the epic Bees Knees v Ferry Boat tug of war… who will reign supreme and take home the trophy in the battle of the bars?!

That's right - the 3rd annual Laneham Olympics is back for 2026 and is better than ever! With a ton of fun for all the family it really is the best thing you could possibly do on 18th July from midday until 4pm.

The Drunken Relay
Keg Lift Challenge

And come to support your favourite pub as The Bees Knees Laneham take on The Ferryboat Inn at Church Laneham in the BIG TUG OF WAR to round off the day!

We've got a BBQ on the go, and a cheap bar with alcohol and soft drinks, plus ice creams, and lots of things to entertain the whole family. Plus it's FREE ENTRY with all friends, family & visitors very welcome to come along. All proceeds go to local charities and good causes.

Please note - Cinema night is postponed this month (July) due to a clash with other events. Next cinema night is The Magic Faraway Tree on 7th August and it starts 6.30 as it's a family film night!
