North Ayrshire Council’s Cabinet has noted the good progress being made across its services when it comes to ensuring children’s rights are respected.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) became part of Scots law in summer 2024, highlighting that everyone has an ongoing responsibility to protect the rights of our children.

The Convention is the gold standard for children’s rights and the blueprint for the Council. It details how we must protect, listen to and nurture our children aged up to 18, ranging from them being given a name at birth through to protection from neglect.

Councillor Chloe Robertson, Young People’s Champion, said: "It is great to see that young people’s rights and their wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do as a local authority.".

SNP WIN CUNNINGHAME SOUTH

I was delighted to be elected as the Scottish National Party (SNP) for Cunninghame South.

Elections are won through the hard work of a whole range of people and I pay tribute to the Cunninghame South SNP team who collectively ensured this victory - not all of whom appear in this photo.

I thank the good people of Cunninghame South for placing their trust in me. I will work diligently and faithfully to represent all the people in my constituency.
