Both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station , 1 from Callington Community Fire Station and 1 from Holsworthy Fire Station were mobilise to reports of a residential Fire in St Giles on the Heath.

On arrival crews were faced with a semi detached bungalow issuing a large amount of smoke from the roof space. Crews wearing BA investigated and discovered a fire within a boiler cupboard.

Crews extinguished the fire ventilated the property and adjoining bungalow whilst a whole time officer conducted their fire investigation.

The saving grace on this particular incident was the fact that occupant had shut the door to the boiler cupboard preventing extensive fire spread, had the door not been shut. This incident would’ve escalated rapidly.

Cruise returned home at 07:00 hours.

Kevin, your commitment, bravery, and selflessness have made a lasting impact on so many lives. Through every call, every challenge, and every moment of service, you have shown what it truly means to serve with heart and courage.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and for being such an important part of our community.

Wishing you all the very best in this next chapter of life, may it be filled with happiness, relaxation, and new adventures.

Two appliances, one from Launceston Community Fire Station and one from Delabole Community Fire Station attended a large moorland fire in the early hours of the morning near Bowithick.

Crews accessed the affected area via foot and used beaters to extinguish the fire which was approximately a mile in length.

Two whole time officers also attended one of which deployed their drone to assist crews with extinguishing the fire and monitoring hotspots from above.

Crews returned to home stations at around 3:30 am.

One appliance from Launceston Community Fire Station went to a residential property fire in the village of Cardinham.

On arrival crews were faced with 2 vehicles well alight, one of which was parked in a car port under the property.

Crews used BA, HRJ and MJ to extinguish the fire.

We was on scene with St Austell Community Fire Station Newquay Community Fire Station & Truro Community Fire Station

Both pumps from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised after fire control received multiple 999 calls at 01:24 reporting a fire in the kitchen of a public house on Race Hill, Launceston on Sunday 8th February 2026.

Launceston were immediately mobilised, along with a wholetime officer. Upon arrival, crews requested additional resources, making pumps four. A further two appliances from Callington Community Fire Station and Bodmin Community Fire Station, along with a second officer, were subsequently mobilised.

Fire crews report a fire within a two-storey building measuring approximately 10 metres by 5 metres. Two hose reel jets and one main jet were in use to extinguish the fire.

Crews confirmed the fire had been extinguished a short while later. The cause was deemed to be accidental and spread. All appliances returned to home stations.

Thankfully all residents managed to escape the premises unharmed. This just re literates the importance of testing your smoke alarms regularly.

This evening one appliance from Launceston Community Fire Station was mobilised across the border into Devon for reports of a chimney fire.

On arrival crews were faced with a semi detached property issuing a large amount of smoke.

Crews committed 2 BA to locate the fire which was now issuing flames from the exterior of the property.

Crews removed several roof tiles to get better access to the fire compartment and they was able to extinguish the fire within a timely manner.

Thank you to Callington Community Fire Station for your support on this incident.

This incident could have been much worse so we are thankful we was able to get there and help in a time of need.

This morning, both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised to a barn fire.

On arrival, crews discovered a barn with smouldering bales after 2 small pieces of machinery in side had caught alight.

Using 2 HRJ & 2 BA, crews extinguished the fire.

Thankfully this incident turned out the way it did as it could have been a whole lot worse.

All cattle were safe on arrival πŸ„

With recent weather conditions and heavy rainfall there is a lot of standing water.

Please don’t attempt to drive through any standing water as you can never be sure what conditions are like underneath.

Both appliances from Launceston Community Fire Station were mobilised to reports of a large vehicle fire on the A30 westbound.

On arrival crews were met with a motorhome well alightπŸ”₯. Crews wearing BA using HRJ and TIC got to work and extinguished the fire before handing over to Devon & Cornwall police and highways.

The lay-by will most likely remain closed until recovery has taken place and highways can asses/repair the road surface.

Launceston is currently under a yellow warning for wind from 3pm today until 8am Friday.

One appliance from Launceston Community Fire Station along with crews from Bodmin Community Fire Station Bude Community Fire Station Saltash Community Fire Station Liskeard Community Fire Station Newquay Community Fire Station attended the scene of a large gas leak in the area of Pennygillam industrial estate.

A 500m cordon was put in place while crews worked to get the scene safe.

A massive thank you to all members of the public who excavated the area at such short notice. We know this can cause a huge amount of disruption to businesses but please know our upmost priority is ensuring the safety of our community.

The scene cordon was lifted at 17:00hrs and handed back to the engineers on site.

Once again, thank you for your cooperation during this difficult incident.
