Autumn is definitely in the air and in Mearns Community Library so to celebrate, we have lots of lovely new displays up.
I've always associated this time of year with food, offsetting the colder, wetter, darker nights with warm puddings, cakes still cooling when you cut the first slice and soups.
On that note, our first display is based around cooking along side children, in the shape of both recipe books and junior fiction involving plenty of delicious food.
Of the books displayed below, "Lunch at 10 Pomegranate Street" by Felicita Sala is one of my absolute favourite child friendly recipe books. It's beautifully illustrated, working both as a story book about a house divided into flats as the inhabitants cook for a shared meal and as a cook book.
Last night, I made the Black Bean soup as made by Senora Flores on pages 12 and 13 (unfortunately no photographs because we ate it too fast) but it was lovely served with crusty bread.
