🎸 LOCAL LITERACY LEGENDS! 🏆

Our young readers have officially found their rhythm! This morning, I joined the Mayor of Whitnash to present medals and certificates to the brilliant children who completed the Warwickshire Libraries 'Read to the Beat' Summer Reading Challenge. 🥁📚

Over the summer holidays, hundreds of local kids smashed their goals by reading six books, proving that reading and music make the perfect mix. A massive congratulations to all our finishers—your hard work and dedication is inspiring! 🌟

🎉 Celebrating New British Citizens 🇬🇧

This morning, I with Consort Cllr Jennifer Taylor were delighted to welcome a number of new British citizens at our Citizenship Ceremony, including a resident originally from New Zealand. (Photo)

The Chair of the ceremony said:

"Today we celebrate individuals from different backgrounds and journeys who have chosen to make the United Kingdom their home. We are proud to welcome each of you as British citizens and thank you for the contribution you make to our communities. We wish you every success and happiness for the future."

Congratulations to everyone who took part in today's ceremony and reached this important milestone. 🇬🇧

A fantastic morning supporting the Mayor of Kenilworth’s ‘Spin de Kenilworth Active Tour’
with Consort Cllr Jennifer Taylor.

We both took part in the charity challenge on spin bikes in support of two wonderful local causes, Warwickshire Hearts and Warwickshire Search and Rescue.

A wonderful event in helping to build excitement, around the Tour of Britain Women Cycling Championship 2026, this Sunday, starting 11am Royal Leamington Spa, lots of arts and crafts available and flag decorating in preparation for the Stage 5 passing through Kenilworth before finishing back in Royal Leamington Spa! 👏🚴‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Last week I met the founder and director of 'Esther' Lianne Kirkman, whose extensive career in community support and gender-specific advocacy recently earned her recognition as one of the Warwickshire Change Makers.

Esther House in Royal Leamington Spa alongside a public Pre-Loved Shop & Community Hub on Gloucester Street. These spaces offer supported-living accommodation together with mental health services and skills workshops designed to help women achieve independent living.

Chair of Warwickshire County Council said, "Meeting Lianne and seeing her vision in action is deeply moving. This project is a absolute lifeline, creating a powerful community of care where women facing immense hardship are met with the dignity, love, and practical support they need to thrive."

What a brilliant Sunday afternoon at the Southam Lions Teddy Bear Picnic, followed by a visit to the historic Holy Well!

It was great for l and Consort Cllr Jennifer Taylor to catch up with our firefighters. A huge thank you to them for all their hard work and dedication throughout this summer.

From Punch and Judy and ice creams to inflatables and family fun, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Thank you to the Southam Lions and all the volunteers who made the event such a success.

It was fantastic bumping into Neville Armstrong, author of the Guy of Warwick Adventure books, yesterday!

I always enjoy reading about Guy of Warwick, the legendary English hero whose tales rivalled those of King Arthur throughout the Middle Ages. His story has inspired medieval romances, children's adaptations, modern historical fiction, and academic studies, recounting his epic battles with giants, dragons, and the fearsome Dun Cow.

A real pleasure to meet the author bringing these wonderful Warwickshire legends to life. 📚😊

I had the pleasure to join veterans, civic guests, and the Leader of Warwickshire County Council, Councillor George Finch, gathered to honour the memory of the late Len Hardy BEM at the remaining of the Horsa Building, now home to the Len Hardy Centre.

Len Hardy BEM co-founded the Veterans Contact Point (VCP), a military charity based at the Horsa Building on Bentley Road in Nuneaton. VCP provides vital welfare, housing, and mental health support to ex-service personnel across Coventry, Solihull, and Warwickshire.

The event recognised Len Hardy's lasting contribution to the veteran community and celebrated the continued work of the charity that he helped establish.
