What a mad 30 hours it’s been here at Ledbury Fire Station 🚒

From one call to the next, crews have been kept on their toes across the weekend. Incidents were spaced just enough to catch our breath… then straight back out the door again. That’s the nature of the job – unpredictable, demanding, and never dull.

Over the 30 hours we attended:
• 2 drone deployments
• 2 RTCs
• 1 wildfire
• 2 false alarms - for a bin fire and a small fallen aircraft

A huge shoutout to all our firefighters who have worked tirelessly to keep the community safe, showing commitment and professionalism every step of the way.

We’d also like to say a big thank you to our friends, families, and places of employment for their understanding and continued support — it never goes unnoticed and makes what we do possible.

Stay safe everyone, and happy bank holiday!!

Drill Night Update 🚒

Another productive training session for the crew at Ledbury Fire Station this week! 💪

We focused on pumping from open water using the Light Portable Pump (LPP), sharpening our skills in setting up and maintaining a reliable water supply in more rural or challenging locations

We also took to the skies with some drone training, helping us build confidence in using aerial support to improve situational awareness at incidents

Great teamwork all round and valuable skills being developed to keep our community safe🤩

RTC Training Exercise 🚒

Tonight, crews at Ledbury Fire Station took part in a joint drill night alongside Fownhope Fire Station, focusing on a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) scenario. Working together, firefighters put their skills to the test, practicing casualty extrication, scene safety, and effective teamwork under realistic conditions.

These exercises are vital in ensuring we’re always ready to respond quickly and safely when it matters most. A great effort from everyone involved, with strong collaboration and professionalism shown throughout 👏

Stay safe on the roads🚗

Thank you to Graham Baker for letting us use the facilities for our training🙏🏼

🚒 Parking Considerately Can Save Lives

Some streets and roads around Ledbury can be a tight squeeze for a fire appliance, especially where there is on-street parking and narrow access.

Please park considerately and make sure there is enough space for emergency vehicles to get through — it could make all the difference in an emergency.

Thank you for helping keep our community safe🙌🏼

Station 42✌🏼

AWARENESS 🚒 | Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service are asking people to give plenty of thought to the needs of the emergency services when they park, remembering to ensure that much larger vehicles can get through, especially in narrow streets.

Which streets are the worst for this?

“We know that some streets were not designed for the number of cars that residents wish to park in them but please bear in mind that a fire engine is 2.5m or around 1.5 car widths,” said Station Commander Amy Bailey of the HWFRS Community Risk Department.

“Have you left enough space for a fire engine to get through because every second can count when someone needs our help?

“Bad parking can delay fire engines and emergency vehicles from reaching serious incidents in your area and could be putting the lives of your families, friends and neighbours at risk.

“The way cars are parked could be the difference between the emergency services being able to save a life or not.”

When parking, please:

🔹Park close to the kerb
🔹Park straight with wheels straight
🔹Fold in wing mirrors
🔹In narrow streets only park on one side of the road (where possible)
🔹Obey the Highway Code and road markings such as yellow lines and box junctions
🔹Do not park too close to corners or traffic calming measures
🔹Leave extra room at tight junctions
remember every second counts when someone needs our help

Throwback to Ledbury Fire Station Opening Day – (approx) 1972 🚒

This fantastic photograph captures a proud moment in Ledbury’s history, showing the crew lined up smartly outside the newly opened Ledbury Fire Station. Taken around 1972, it reflects the professionalism, dedication and strong sense of community that has always been at the heart of the fire service here.

The appliances, the uniforms, and the formal occasion all remind us how much has changed over the years – and how much has stayed the same. Generations of firefighters have served from this station, protecting Ledbury and the surrounding areas with courage and commitment.

Do you recognise anyone in the photo, or have memories of the opening day? We’d love to hear your stories in the comments. 👇
Please feel free to share and help us keep Ledbury’s fire service history alive.
