I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the response to this post.

What started as a lovely moment has reached so many people, and I’ve been genuinely touched by all the comments, messages, shares, and support.

To top it all off, Emily from the BBC contacted me earlier this morning and wanted to cover the story. It’s all a bit surreal, but I’m incredibly grateful for the interest and kindness everyone has shown.

Sir Gareth is a national hero and we was honoured to meet him.

What started as a normal Friday morning turned into quite a surprise when this brilliant, happy chappy gentleman paid us a visit!

We were so star-struck (combined with a little brain fog – yes, it's that time of life!) that neither of us could remember his name. We looked at each other, and Meshie bravely asked, "Do I recognise you from something to do with football?"

He smiled and said, "Yes!"

Thankfully, we had a rare quiet few minutes with no customers in the shop, when Mr Southgate walked in, and so he happily and humbly agreed to a photograph. After he left we still hadn't worked out who he was until the next male customer came in & showed him the photos to clarify who he was!

We're often told we're the best Post Office in Leeds, so it seems only fitting that one of England's greatest-ever managers came to see for himself!

Thank you for stopping by, Sir Gareth – you certainly made our day and we still can't believe it!
